I walked through the gate as I entered Jasmine and Evan's backyard. Today was their son Carson's birthday celebration. His birthday had passed but they were just now getting around to having his party and it had been something Cecilia was excited about.

As we walked in I saw kids everywhere and the backyard looked like an amusement park. Evan and Jasmine had gone all out for their son.

But I could relate because when it came to Cecilia, Caleb and I made sure her birthday celebrations were extravagant too.

Cecilia took my hand as she pulled me over to a table where Evan was.

I was holding Carson's present that Cecilia picked out.

She was so proud of herself.

"Hi uncle Evan," Cecilia said as she let go of my hand.

Evan turned to us and smiled at Cecilia.

"There's my favorite god daughter," Evan said.

Cecilia smiled.

"Uncle Evan where is Deacon?" Cecilia asked as I saw her glancing around the party.

"He's in the bounce house with his brothers sweetie," Evan chuckled.

"Ok. Bye," Cecilia said as she walked off.

My child can act so grown sometimes.

"Here's Carson's gift. Cecilia picked it out herself," I said.

"The gift table is over there," Evan said pointing to it.

He was acting kind of dismissive towards me.

"Ok..." I said awkwardly.

It seemed he didn't really want to be bothered so I walked off and put Carson's gift on the gift table.

As I sat his gift down Jasmine approached me.

"I'm glad you and Cecilia could make it. Where is she?" Jasmine asked.

"She walked in and asked Evan where Deacon was then left me," I laughed.

"Oh," Jasmine laughed understanding.

"You know she thinks of your sons as her brothers," I smiled.

"Yep and they love her like a little sister. I can only imagine what the high school years will be like for these kids," Jasmine said.

"I know. I can just imagine how overprotective Caleb is going to be when my little bean gets her first boyfriend," I laughed.

"What's this about my baby girl getting a boyfriend?" Caleb questioned as he interrupted the conversation.

"You made it," I said.

"Yeah," Caleb said.

Caleb placed his arm around my waist and hugged me. I saw Jasmine eyeing us and I pushed his hand away.

After what she walked in on in my office I didn't want her thinking Caleb and I were still fooling around. I'd kept my distance from him since that day even though it was kind of hard considering we co-parent.

"Well you all enjoy the party. I'm going to go check on some things," Jasmine said excusing herself.

"Could that have been anymore awkward," I said.

"It was fine," Caleb said as he eyed me.

"You look fatherly," I said taking in his appearance.
