Our flight to Phoenix is finally here, well not exactly, it's tomorrow morning, but it is real close. It's around 7 pm, and I'm home doing some last minute packing for myself and Daniel. He's still at work right now but should be on his way home soon. Melissa is with Legend in her room doing some packing too. She's been doing it for days, but she's still at it. Fortunately, she almost got everything ready.
I, on the other hand, have most of my things still out of suitcases even though I had about a week to have things done. I don't own a lot of things, unlike Melissa, but it's still stressful.
Instead of packing, I took each day of the week to do spend more time outdoors in New York City as much as I could. This place certainly is special for me, and the time I was here, I will never forget. I don't know when I'll be back or if I ever will, but I want to take as much as I can with me.
I crumbled my shirt I was holding in frustration as these thoughts emerged in my brain.
I honestly need to start to think more positive.
My back feels like it's going to break after spending hours standing up folding clothes.
"Time for a ten-minute break," I mumble at myself.
I make some space on the bed, which had pieces of clothing scattered everywhere mine and Daniel, then I lay down letting out a sigh.
Just as I was going to close my eyes, I hear footsteps in the hallway. My door is open, so I kept my gaze aimed there to see who it was.
"Hi Tia," Legend appears by the entrance.
A smile forms on my face, "hey Legend, come in."
He comes in, climbs on the bed, and lays next to me.
"Is your mom done packing everything up?" I asked.
He nods, "yeah, she went to shower now, so I came here."
"Damn, I still have a lot of shit to pack," I mumble under my breath.
He giggles.
"What?" I grinned.
"You talk a lot of shit," he laughs which makes me laugh even harder.
"Only I can talk shit, Legend."
We laugh for a couple of seconds, but then concern erupts when he gets quiet, and the look on his face showed sadness.
"Hey, you okay?" I ask him softly.
He nods, but he can't-fool me.
There isn't a day when he's okay, and he is looking like he's at a funeral.
"I know somethings wrong, Legend, you can't-fool me. You can trust me, baby. What's wrong?" I insist softly.
He takes a moment to think.
He hesitates, but then decides to open up, "I found a picture of my dad, and showed it to my mom. Now she's crying in the shower, and it's my fault. I know she gets sad whenever I talk about my dad, but I only want to know more about him."
Raul, his dad, and my best friend, actually, more like my brother. He passed away before he even knew Melissa was pregnant with his child.
My heart cracks immediately as the flashback of that night plays into my head. It all started when we were at a restaurant. [This next is parts of Ch. 7 of Trap Queen]
FLASHBACK:
"This store is wack! There is nothing here," Melissa groans.
"I know," I say just as disappointed. "But I'm also starting to get hungry."
