So I forgot to upload this when I actually made it, but recently I attempted to make a cocked (tricorn) hat for the first time!

Here were my starting materials:

I initially ordered the hat in black, but they ended up sending me it in dark brown

I initially ordered the hat in black, but they ended up sending me it in dark brown. I didn't mind too much, though, since the size and cut of the hat was reminiscent of a civilian hat rather than a soldier's one.

I still decided to make a cockade to go with it, though!

So, the first step to making a cockade is to fold parts of a ribbon into equal lengths and then stitch one corner together:

I ended up folding it ten times.
