The Makeover
CHAPTER 22 (EDITED)

"The more often we see the things around us - even the beautiful and wonderful things - the more they become invisible to us. That is why we often take for granted the beauty of this world: the flowers, the trees, the birds, the clouds - even those we love. Because we see things so often, we see them less and less." – Joseph B. Wirthlin

Christopher's dad swore as he held his face in pain. The room was silent as everyone stared at me in shock.

Damn, did I really just do that?

A part of me wanted to immediately apologize, but I couldn't bring myself to do so. How dare this man come here and proclaim such wild things. Even though he was Christopher's dad, I couldn't help but think of him to be completely unreasonable, especially after hearing the story of what he did to Christopher as a child.

It was Christopher's mother that finally broke the painful silence with a loud giggle. Both Christopher directed our attention to the supposedly composed women in wonder. I could definitely see where Christopher got his smile from.

"Didn't I say that one of these days your attitude is going to get you into trouble?" Christopher's mother said to her husband. His father only glared at her in response.

With a flip of her hair, Christopher's mother turned her attention on us.

"Ignore your father," she said with a roll of her eyes. "He's just being stubborn."

"So I'm not switching schools?" Christopher asked and I could hear the hope in his voice as he stared at his mother, his hand tightening around mine.

"Depending on how our plans go, no," she sad as she moved to go lean against the principal's desk.

"Plan?" I questioned. She nodded.

"What plan?" Christopher asked.

"Well, I was talking to your brother's publicist, and were thinking of ways to ease the tension off of him," his mother stated. "It was then that it came to my attention that you," she said pointing at me, "are trying to start a modeling career," she finished. I frowned slightly because I really wasn't, but I guess it would seem that way. "So I thought the best thing for you to do is for both my son and you to come out into spot light. This will help to promote all three of your careers," she finished.

"What?!" Christopher shouted bewildered. "My career?"

"Yes, honey. You didn't really think you would stay out of the spot light forever? I'm surprised you even lasted this long," she pointed out.

"But --"

"-- No buts, the decision has been made. In fact, tomorrow you might even find an interesting surprise," she grinned. And her I thought she was going to be the sweet one. "However, if things don't go well, you will be transferring schools," his mother warned. With that she grabbed her purse and Christopher's father hand. "Do not disappoint me Christopher," she said with a warning tone.

"Where leaving, Henry," She said addressing her husband. Her husband frowned as he followed his wife like a kicked puppy.

Flexing my fingers, from the pain that lingered from punching him, I realized that I didn't regret it. In fact, I felt like punching him again because no matter how many times I could punch him, it wouldn't amount to the times he hurt Christopher as a child.
