The Makeover
CHAPTER 16 (EDITED)

Being in control of your life and having realistic expectations about your day-to-day challenges are the keys to stress management, which is perhaps the most important ingredient to living a happy, healthy and rewarding life. – Marilu Henner

                                      Rosalie Johnson

"Is ... Is she okay?" My mother muttered quietly to Amber and I rolled my eyes at her failed attempt at being quiet.

"I'm not sure," Amber responded as she glanced at me.  A slightly worried expression marring her features as she did so.

"Should we stop her?" My mother asked as she shot me a worried look too.

"We should, but this is kind of amusing – "

" – I can here you guys," I snapped as I yet again failed to do a push-up.

Today was Saturday, which in my opnion was the best day of the week. Usually, I would either be sleeping or watching television. However, my mother and my best friend had other ideas.

They thought that today, of all days, would be the best day to start my transformation.

"Oh, come on sweetie. Your at five push-ups, only fifteen more to go!" My mother said happily and I wasn't sure if that was supposed to help me or not. I was not a physically active person. The last time I had to do this much work was when I was forced to take gym during freshman year.

Apparently being physically active will help improve my appearance. Geez, I didn't realize looking like a sweaty freakin' mess would enhance my look. Feel free to note the sarcasm.

"What does this have to do with getting a makeover?" I huffed as I tried to push myself up, but only ended up doing a half-assed push-up altogether.

"Everything. You may be skinny, but everything about you screams out of shape," Amber said as she walked closer to me. How did that even make sense?

"Here, I'll count for you," she said as she placed her water bottle down and kneeled in front  of me. I shot her a glare, but I didn't protest.

I glanced around the gym in absolute annoyance. There was way too many people here, especially people who were fit. There should be a gym for people like me: The extremely lazy and out of shape people.

"Can I just take a break? Don't you think I've been doing this long enough," I pouted as I plopped down onto the mat.

Amber rolled her eyes and poked me in the cheek. "How can you be tired? It's only been ten minutes. Now get up before I make you do more push-ups," Amber said and I groaned.

"Come on, Rosalie," Amber urged.

I sighed and pushed myself up into a push-up stance.

"Okay, good. Now try and do a push-up," Amber instructed and I sighed.

"You're butt is too high. Do it again," My mother said as she took a sip from her water.

"Are you kidding me?" I questioned bewildered. My mother shrugged and took another sip from her water bottle. Was she really that thirsty? It wasn't like she was doing anything.

"Don't question me, Rose," my mother said giving me a pointed look.

With another sigh, I tried again.

"Perfect," Amber said as I tried to do a push-up. "One ... Two ... Three ..." by now my arms were shaking. This was felt like torture. A part of me regretted ever saying I wanted a makeover. I'm pretty sure I didn't sign up for this type of work. I honestly thought we were just going to get our hair and makeup done, but no, we had to do this
