The Makeover
CHAPTER 5 (EDITED)

Everything that is new or uncommon raises a pleasure in the imagination, because it fills the soul with an agreeable surprise, gratifies its curiosity, and gives it an idea of which it was not before possessed. – Joseph Addison

                                         Amber Renells

I flipped my blonde hair over my shoulders, and walked over to Rosalie. It was the day after the dinner, and I was curious to know what had happened. I had to sneak out of the house after Rosalie left the room. The last thing I wanted to do was cross paths with her mother. Boy, does that woman know how to chat.

As I approached Rosalie, I realized somthing seemed off about her, and I'm not just talking about her looks. She was standing in front of her locker doing nothing. She had such a faraway gaze, you would think she was in outer space. I would scrunch my eyebrows in worry if it weren't for that fact I could get wrinkles from doing so.

"Rosalie?" She jumped in the air and spun around to look at me. Shock apperent in her eyes as she eyed me. Okay, something was definitely wrong.

"Amber? What - when did you get here?" She asked as her eyes drifted from me then slowly down the hallway with hurt in her eyes. Ignoring her question, I decided to follow her gaze. Standing at the end of the hallway was Damien, the total hunk.

"Are you still crushing on him?" I questioned, my voice filled with humor. In the past three years I've known Rosalie, she never really showed that she liked anyone until now. I was happy for her, don't get me wrong. However, I'm not a big fan of fairytale stories, but I do hope she finds her Prince Charming. She deserves it, especially after all the shit she's gone through all her life.

"No," Rosalie's answer shocked me. She didn't like him anymore? What happened? Looking at Rosalie I watched her sluggish movements as she turned from away from me to face her locker. She was hiding something.

"Rosalie," I said in a warning tone. Why didn't she like Damien anymore? I was already picturing the prefect love story between them. What went wrong?

"I found out he's an asshole, and I don't like assholes," Rosalie said, and although I knew she was being absouletly serious, I still had to laugh slightly. What can I say, it sounded funny. Wrapping my arm around her shoulder, I grinned broadly.

"Awe, down frown. Turn that smile upside down," wait, did I say that right? I don't think so, but I'm sure she knows what I mean.

"Amber, what he did wasn't nice, and as much as I hate to admit it, it hurt a lot," Rosalie muttered softly. Grabbing her science textbook and binder, Rosalie closed her locker.

"What did he do?" I asked, and she explained. She told me how he and his gang purpoesly got her into detention so that Damien can do his dare. I thought he was nice, so why did he do that? Why am I asking so many questions? Shaking my head, I gave Rosalie a comforting smile.

"Don't worry Rosie, there's plenty of fish in the sea," I said nudging her gently in the shoulder as we began to walk to our first period class.

"That's not the only thing that's got me worried," she said after a moment of silence, her lips pursed into a thin, her eyes looking everywhere, but at me.

"What's up sugar plum?"

"I'm going to be leaving for awhile," Rosalie said quietly, her eyes looking at me sheepishly. "Uh, uhm, I'm going to New York for three days, and I won't be back until Friday," I stopped in my tracks and so did Rosalie.
