chapter 1

"zach, get up, its time for school!!"

zach's mother, myta, yelled up the stairs. it was almost the end of the year, which means its testing season. he had been up most last night studying or, saying that he's studying but really he was just on his phone texting his friends.

well.. friend, he really only has one friend and he's known him his whole life basically. his name was jonah, he's a year older than zach but got held back in second grade, which means zach caught up with him and now they're in the same grade.

they've been best friends for their whole lives and they probably will be forever. their parents are best friends too, that explains the reason they are next door neighbors.

zach rolled out of his bed and stretched. he grabbed a t shirt and joggers since it's a testing day and put them on.

he grabbed his phone from the charger while grabbing his backpack and his shoes. he walked down stairs and into the kitchen.

he sat down and put his shoes on before grabbing a water bottle.

his mom walked into the kitchen.

"goodmorning zach, jonah is outside waiting for you."

zach nodded and stood up.

"have a good day, love you."

"love you too."

zach said back to his mom while walking out of the door. he met up with jonah at the end of his driveway and they started to walk to school.

"goodmorning, someone woke up late."

jonah says playfully, nudging zach a little.

"shut up, i was up late studying."

zach said, jonah instantly laughed.

"studying? more like texting me talking about how you wanted chipotle."

zach laughed and shrugged.

"i still want some."

jonah laughed before an idea popped into his head.

"we can go after school. i'm sure my mom will let me drive her car."

jonah said before looking to see zach's reaction. he laughed when he saw zach's face light up.

"really? yayyy."

the two boy's laughed as they walked to school. they continued their conversation as they walked into the double doors at the front of the school.

they walked to jonah's locker. he opened it and got a few things out.

"the bell is gonna ring. i'll find you after school and we can walk home together like we always do. have a good day and do good on your algebra testing, zach."

jonah said, looking down at the smaller boy. zach smiled.

"i'll try. have a good day, i'll see you later."

jonah sent zach a smiled before the two walked their separate ways.
