**Ochako's POV**

I arrived at the infirmary with Deku a few minutes after leaving the gym. After knocking on the door I entered to find Recovery Girl sitting at her desk.

She looked up at me as I walked in took one look at who I was carrying with me and sighed.

"Put him on one of the cots over there. I'll be over in a minute."

I nodded absently and carried Deku over to one of the cots over by the window.

I slowly set him down and made sure he was in a comfortable position before deactivating my quirk. I watched him as he slept until Recovery Girl came over and started to examine his legs carefully.

After a few minutes, she seemed to calm down.

"His injuries aren't too bad. Much smaller than some of the other ones he's sustained in the past. Though I'm still not happy that he broke his bones again."

"Sorry," I apologized, "It's my fault. He only pushed himself that hard to be able to reach me in time before I got crushed."

Recovery Girl looked at me and then back at Deku before responding. "Well, at least he had a good reason for his injuries this time. I'll spare him the lecture for today. I need to go and get some bandages from the storage room down the hall, watch him for me while I'm out."

With that Recovery Girl walked out of the room, leaving me to watch over Deku.

After Recovery Girl left I pulled up a chair next to Deku so I could stay next to him.

I watched him for a while, it didn't look like he was in any pain while he was out which was a relief.

I just stayed like that for a few minutes, watching him. Eventually, I hesitantly reached out my hand to brush some of his hair out of his face.

"He'd saved me again. For the second time since I'd met Deku he had broken himself to save me."

I gently reached out my hand again and slowly grabbed his.

It was soft and firm. I held his hand for a while; I don't know why. I guess it just felt right to me somehow. When Recovery girl eventually returned I got up and took a step away from Deku so she could work. A few minutes later she was done and said,

"He'll have to stay here until he wakes up. You're free to stay with him a little longer but be quick. You should be getting back to class soon."

"Thanks, Recovery Girl," I said weakly. Recovery Girl then left her office. I looked at Deku again for a moment, then I bent down and softly kissed his forehead.

"Thank you, Deku." I whispered, "I hope you get better soon." I then got up and walked to the door.

I looked back once more at Deku to see him sleeping soundly and with that, I left the infirmary and headed back to class.

**Izuku's POV**

I looked over as soon as I heard Iida's shout to see a huge slab of concrete falling towards Uraraka.

She, on the other hand, seemed to be almost in a daze as she seemed oblivious to the danger she was in.

I don't really know what happened but the moment that I saw she was about to be crushed I just knew I couldn't let that happen. I felt One For All course through my body in an instant, the rush going way past any limits I should have been trying to maintain but I didn't care.

The only thing that mattered was making sure I got there fast enough to save her.

I ended up using a full 100 percent in my legs as I sprinted across the room.

I was next to Uraraka in less than a second powering up one big kick to make sure that huge piece of concrete couldn't ever hurt her. I extended my leg and did a full 360-degree spin in the air before hitting that thing with my heel as hard as I possibly could.

"SMAAAASH!" I yelled at the top of my lungs as if challenging anyone else to even try to harm Uraraka. I felt like I could take on the world at that point.

Like there was nothing and no one I couldn't defeat if it meant protecting her. At least until I landed that was.

As soon as I tried to land my legs flared up in pain and I collapsed to the floor.

I yelped in pain, my legs felt like hot metal spikes were being driven up into them, I was fighting a blackness that threatened to pull me under, but I ignored the pain, I still had to make sure she was okay.

Uraraka appeared next to me with worry and fear etched onto every part of her face.

"Are you alright?" I asked as another ache ran through my legs making me wince in pain.

"I'm fine, it's you, I'm worried about!" she yelled.

Hearing her words filled me with relief, she was okay, I'd done it.

"You went passed your limit again and now your legs are broken!" she went on, but before she could continue I just said

"It doesn't matter, I'm just glad you're okay. With my job complete I no longer had the strength to hold back the darkness. As soon as I said my last word the darkness engulfed me completely.

My memories after that were a little hazy for a while. I remember the sound of shouting, but it sounded distant like I was under water.

I remember feeling someone carrying me, though who it was and for how long I don't know.

I have a larger gap there, but then a little later I thought I felt someone gently kiss my forehead and what sounded like Uraraka's voice whisper to me, though at that point I decided that I had to be mistaken and I dismissed it sadly as wishful thinking.

That's when I finally managed to fully fall into a fitful sleep.
