"Do you wanna know a secret"

I finally get Jimin to his car, so I can drive us to school. He'a basically death-glaring everything and anything we drive past.

When we stop by a traffic light– a little kid [who is riding a bicycle on the sidewalk] makes an ugly grimace towards him, which Jimin gratefully returns... by flipping him off and the young boy quickly rolls over to his parents, crying...

My best friend is very mature.

After 15 minutes we arrive at school, we [I] park and turn off the unnecessarily loud engine. Jimin quickly opens his door, though his head seems to hang tiredly on his shoulders and he almost hits the roof while he gets out.

—Suddenly he perks up with his head snapping in every direction, like the weirdo he is.

"Yoonie-baby?" he questions loudly while staring out into nothing. "Mhm?" I respond, not really listening to him... I mean I love my best friend [maybe a bit too literally], but sometimes his endless talking can be a smidge obnoxious, so I might tend to zone out from time to time.

"I know I'm only human, but doesn't it smell like wet dog here?" he states quizzically and I glance up at him, from my phone.

"I've got good eyesight, not smell" I remind him rather irritatedly. I've told him this countless of times, but he continuously ignores it.

"Seriously" he whispers, rushing past all the students in the parking lot and I follow behind him hastily, into the main building.

I sniff the air, not really expecting anything... but I can practically feel it. Not only the smell, but a stingy feeling rushing up my arms.

"What the heck?" I mutter and Jimin snaps his head over to me. "See" my best friend yells, all the while we both walk around the school, suspiciously observing everyone.

All the students probably think we're nutcases, but who cares? We've got each other.

"Wait!" I whisper-yell, when I suddenly remember something. We both stop abruptly and he watches me curiously, waiting for me to continue speaking.

He leans in closer and I unconsciously glance to his lips, which are only coming closer to my face.

"I-I think I saw s-someone moving into the mansions, you know the ones a bit behind my lake" I manage to get out and his eyes go big.
"Those are huge, they're probably the cause of the odour" he murmurs and I nod shyly.

—I've been forced to be really cautious the past weekend, in order to not be caught. I never thought anyone would ever wanna move into those old mansions. They need a serious update...

Jimin's look changes to a wild one again, looking over at me while putting up a finger in my direction... basically hitting me in my face.

"They could be shifters!" he exclaims excitedly, but it almost came out like a question. "Shifters?" I chuckle out, almost having to rest on my knees for support.

"I don't think so, shifters usually stay put to one place, they wouldn't move... especially not here" I state confidently and my friend hums at my words, but isn't entirely convinced.

"Well, anyways we have class now" I interrupt our conversation and he nods with a sigh, before following me to our lockers.

[Five years ago]

I skipped down the forest path that I had trailed so many times before. It was only used by me and therefore I felt like it was my secret path.

I started running and laughed when I could feel the wind blowing past me, all the while the sun casted a constant warmth.

—When I finally got to the lake which I had self proclaimed as mine, I looked around to check that no one was around... you never know. I then started stripping out of my clothes, folding them nicely before quickly diving into the refreshing water. My legs were replaced by my teal tail and I giggled, as I swam laps around the rather big but hidden lake.

I swam up to the surface to warm myself a bit in the sun, when I suddenly saw a young boy staring at me with wide childish eyes.

"Who are you?" was the only question he asked and I opened my mouth to say something, but closed it when I couldn't come up with anything. All I did was stare at him with big eyes and soon a small blush crept up my neck.

"I'm Jimin, Park Jimin" he introduced himself, holding out his hand for me to shake, but I continued to only stare at him.

"Do you not know how to speak?" he questioned and I coughed quietly as to check if my voice actually worked. "I'm Yoongi" I whispered out almost inaudibly and he smiled brightly.

"Hi!" Jimin yelled excitedly and I waved awkwardly. "Why are you swimming alone?" he asked, to which I lightly shrugged.

"I like it I guess" I commented after a while and he hummed.

"You probably should get up though, it could be dangerous without your parents" the boy continued, which I believed to probably be something he had been told by his own parents.

He suddenly grabbed my hand, trying to help me up... when he suddenly lost his grip and stumbled back into the moss.

"Why are you so heavy?" he pouted and I chuckled at his sulky face, to which he couldn't help but to smile too.

–As the stupid kid I was, I grinned ear from ear... "Do you wanna know a secret?" I asked mysteriously and Jimin nodded excitedly.

"Yes!" he yelled out loud while clapping his small hands and I swam back a few meters, before I picked up speed. I rather swiftly leaped up onto the small patch of grass and the small boy sat there utterly shocked for over three minutes, before finally touching my tail.

"Its so smooth, gross!" he yelped and I giggled at his comment.

I put up my index fingers to my lips.

"Schhh" I hushed him and he mimicked me, before we quietly laughed together, all alone in the forest.

We had made a secret pact.
