"Don't go." Hannah said. You turn around to see your best friends eyes opened, staring at you.
"Oh my god..." You ran to her side and sat with her mesmerized. "Is this real? Are you really awake?"
"I guess so.." She whimpered.
"Oh, my sweets. I'm so happy to hear you speak." Her grandmother said rushing to the other side of her. Hannah smiled grabbing her hand.
Both the nurse and the doctor rushed in and checked her vitals and what not. They asked her a bunch of questions and wrote on their clipboards as we just stood there and watched.
The Next Day
Yesterday at the hospital was pretty hectic. The doctors had rushed in to do all of these tests they needed for her charts. After that you were able to stay a little longer to talk but you ran out of time before visiting hours were over.
It was probably for the best. Hannah needed to take everything in and it was good for her and her grandma to talk.
You woke up unbelievably happy considering the last few weeks. Last night, instead of the usual nightmare, you had a good dream.
In the dream Hannah had returned to school and you had introduced her to Dylan. You can't wait for the day that this dream would become a reality.
You made your way downstairs to find everyone at the table. Mom had made pancakes and eggs, everyone's favorite.
"Here you go sweets." Mom said placing a plate for you as you sat down.
"Thank you." You said.
After pancakes you called Hannah's grandma to check in and you got to talk to Hannah for a few minutes.
Later that day you hung out with Dylan.
"So, hows Hannah?" He had asked as the two of you sat on the front porch.
"Better. I've missed her so much that I don't want leave her side." You chuckled. "But, I do get that she needs her space and time to recover. I think that they were going to tell her about her mom today."
"Wow. That's gotta be hard." He said.
"It is. But, she has us and she has her grandma. At least she has a strong support system." You state. "I just can't wait for her to get out of the hospital."
The next few days at school were normal. At home, however, quite a bit was going on. Brandon was still living with Mike, Mariana and Zac were growing closer, Jesus and Lexi were officially done, and Callie and Jude's dad was trying to get back into the picture which couldn't be any worse timing considering that moms were going to adopt them.
Tonight moms sat the family down for a meeting because they had big news to share.
"So, we were going to wait to say anything, but since the cats out of the bag..." Mama had started. "We are trying to have a baby."
You couldn't help but grow a big smile across your face. You looked at Mariana and she shared your joyful expression.
"What... Adopt a baby?" Brandon asked in pure shock.
"Oh my god, a baby?" Mariana had squealed in excitement.
"Moms, please let it be a girl." You said.
"I was literally just about to say that." Mariana said.
"Wait, wait, there's more." Jesus had said.
"We're not going to adopt." Mom said. "Mama wants to carry the baby." Mom said.
"We've decided to give it a try, and we have a donor." Mama added.
"It's Timothy." Jesus stated.
"Wait, as in our English teacher Timothy?" Mariana asked.
"We wanted it to be anonymous, but your brother-" Mama started.
"Basically walked in on Timothy in moms bathroom..." Jesus started going way too into detail. Moms cut him off before he got too far.
"Okay, look, none of this is easy, you guys, but we wanted someone that we knew and trusted and respected." Mom said.
"And who would make a freaking adorable baby." Mariana said.
"Wait, so, that's why I can't have Brandon's room? You're turning it into a nursery?" Jesus asked.
"If Mama gets pregnant, uh, the baby will sleep in our room. We want all of you to be on board with this. Okay, it's really important to Mama." Mom had told us.
"Well I think it's cool." Brandon had said, both Callie and Jude agreeing with him. "And, Jesus, if you want to move into my room, it's yours."
"For real?" Jesus asked.
"Yeah." Brandon answered.
"Are you sure about that bud?" Mom had asked.
"I mean, until I get back, okay?" He responded.
"Can I move in?" Jesus asked mom who told him yes.
"Ooh, but after, you need to take the trash bins to the curb. A deals a deal." Mariana told him.
Everyone started having their own conversations. You stood up and walked over to Mama. You sat in her lap the way you used to when you were a kid. You sit there as she strokes your hair.
"I just wanted to say that I am totally on board and that I love you both." You said reaching out for Moms arm. They both returned the"I love you" and soon after Brandon was getting ready to leave.
Brandon and mom shared a long moment. I can tell that they are both sad. It's kind of heart breaking because you can see how hard it is for mom to let him go.
A few minutes later Brandon did, indeed, leave. That night you helped Jesus move a few things before you called it a night and went to bed.
Please let me have good dreams... you thought before eventually drifting off to sleep.
