Kokichi was fast, but Kaito was also fast. He soon caught up with Kokichi. The violet-eyed cop looked at Kaito huffing and puffing and scoffed. "Well, one out of two is not bad, I guess."

One out of two? Kaito looked around him and realized that Shuichi was nowhere in sight. He was way too focused in catching up with Kokichi...

"But, watching you spend all that energy trying to catch me was impressive," Kokichi said with a grin. Kaito didn't trust any of Kokichi's smiles. They all seemed... kinda fake. "You must really want to work on a case with me! I'm so touched."

"Like hell I believe that! You're probably lying again!"

"Oh~?" Kokichi's face went pale, "N-no way! You actually said something smart!"

"Cut it out! You are seriously pissing me off."

The liar's face went from surprised to serious within a millisecond. "Since you've managed to keep up with me, we are going to the crime scene. You are a detective now, so your actions reflect on the entire precinct. Don't embarrass me."

...

The crime scene was not too gruesome, but still ugly. There was no blood, just a man floating in a bathtub in his own home. His clothes were soaked with water, hanging over his dead body like a crumpled plastic bag. The victim's name was Ryouma Hoshi.

"Ryouma Hoshi? The tennis player? No way!" Kaito exclaimed. He had heard of the famous athlete during high school. He never thought he would be solving his murder today...

The body found in the morning, but he died sometime between 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. last night. The bathroom was very clean, eerily clean for a room where someone just died. The towel rack was bare and empty.

"There's no sign of external damage to the body. He probably drowned..." said one people of the forensics team.

"That's simple, then!" Kaito said, "He probably slipped, got knocked unconscious, and drowned. Nobody would try to kill such an amazing tennis star, after all."

Kokichi sighed to the forensic team. "Ignore everything he says. He's just idiot who followed me here."

"Hey, why are you contradicting me??? It is obviously an accident."

"Look at the evidence, dumbass," Kokichi said, "Or are you such an idiot that you don't take off your clothes before you shower?"

"What?"

"The victim still had his clothes on. He didn't even have any towels in the bathroom. Any detective with brains would know that he wasn't planning to bathe."

"Why would anyone want to kill him?" Kaito retorted, "That makes no sense! And the victim has a name, Ryouma Hoshi! Remember that!"

"What's the point of memorizing the name of someone who's dead?"Kokichi said, "I'm just trying to bring their murderer to justice. Emotions don't solve crimes, logic does."

Kaito tried to punch him, the short detective dodged again, laughing. "Hey, don't start a ruckus at the scene of the crime. Why don't you go interrogate the maid who found the body?"
