"Princess Ayase, your teacher has arrived." One of the maids said. Her petite frame trembled as she spoke and her voice quivered in fear.
"Princess, how are you?" My teacher, Mr. Kei, asked.
"I've been doing alright, how about you?" I asked in return.
"I'm fine." He answered almost immediately.
Three knocks echoed in the room and the door slowly opens after a few seconds. "Excuse me, the queen has ordered the prince to join your studies." A maid stated.
I didn't hear anything about this! I don't want to study with anyone, especially not with Nao! If he finds out how much I suck at academics, he'll surely taunt me to no end.
"Hey, Ayase, let's study quickly so we can go to the town!" Nao said while taking his seat.
Then, like usual, we studied for 2 hours. And then after what felt like forever, we finished. Thank goodness I wasn't given any homeworks today!
Nao jogs towards the door of the castle, earning unnecessary attention from the palace staff. "Let's go Ayase, don't be so slow!" Nao shouted.
"Nao, no shouting! You of all people should know the rules!" My mom shortly scolded Nao.
"S-sorry." Nao apologized, looking quite embarrassed with his rowdy behavior.
"So this is the town..." I said, amazed with the sight when we got there. It was my first time coming here and I'm glad I did.
Stores were opening up and people rushed to get to where they needed to be. Honking horns of the cars filled the quiet streets and the soft singing of the birds can be heard.
"Oh Ayase, wait here, I need to buy something." Nao said, before leaving me alone in a place I was very unfamiliar with.
Hmph! How rude of him! Well, what could I even do? It's my first time being in a place like this, so I've got no choice but to wait like instructed.
"Miss, you are the princess, right?" A guy suddenly asked.
"What do you need?" I coldly inquired in return.
I wonder why I never show expressions on my face. I can't smile, I can't show an angry expression, my face is just so... neutral.
"Then, come with me." The young man firmly ordered, his eyes showing light interest in me.
"I'm sorry, I don't know you." I said, as I pulled my hand away.
"Forgive me, princess." The guy said, before swiftly punching my stomach. And with that I blacked out.
Where am I? Why am I here?
"Excuse me, anyone here?" I loudly asked.
"Welcome to the magic world, and you, my lady, is the sole princess. The Princess of the North." The guy who punched me a while ago briefly stated.
"We are all enchanters, and we call ourselves magicians. By the way, call me Jun." The guy named Jun informs me.
"Please explain situation." I said, shocked that I'm still seem calm in the outside.
"Well, as I mentioned a while ago, you are the Princess of the North, the strongest of all. You have all the powers that magicians have and you can make it as strong as you want. That power is called 'infinite'. Your duty is to find the princesses of the east, the south, and the west. Together, all four of you must stop our enemies, the sorcerers." Jun explains.
If what he says is true, then maybe, I am fated to do this! Maybe this was where I belonged. This was the purpose of my existence.
"How did you know that I'm the princess of the north?" I asked to confirm.
"Because of the aura I sense around you. I'm Jun, 16 years old, and I'll be taking care of you. If the sorcerers win, they'll destroy the world, so you must stop them." Jun said.
"Okay, I'm Princess Ayase, currently 14 years old." I introduced myself.
"Then, let's start training!" Jun said, dragging me to a room full of enchanters.
"Princess, please demonstrate your power." Jun said.
"Well, I've been studying about this for years, but I never gave it a try." I hesitantly stated.
"It's okay." Jun assured me.
"Well..." I said, taking a deep breath.
Here goes nothing!
"Fire wall!" I attacked.
"Water ball!" Jun countered.
Oh? So you want it this way, huh?
"Thunder tornado, earth spikes!" I attacked, combining different elements together.
"Aaaah!" Jun shouted as he got caught up by the tornado.
"Stop!" I ordered, then the tornado disappeared and the earth spikes dropped.
"Princess, it is an honor to serve you." Jun said before he kneeled down.
"Huh? Weren't we battling?" I asked with a poker face.
"He was testing you, to see if you're worth serving." A little boy said.
"Oh..." I mumbled, realizing what he meant.
"The honor is all mine." I said, bowing in return.
Maybe I am suited for this, maybe I'll find my true self, maybe I'll get my true power, and maybe I'll learn to show emotions. But what about the kingdom? What about mom and dad, and even Nao?
Does this mean I have to leave them behind?
