Clementine had never really been a big comic fan, but her friend Mariana was a huge fan of Marvel. So she dragged Clem down to the brand new local comic book store because she wanted to check if they had anything cool or interesting.
"Come on Clem, we never get to do anything anymore. This could be fun. Maybe you'll meet some nerdy guy down there." Mariana says.
"Mari, I'm going to pretend you didn't just say that. Besides, I doubt I'm gonna meet anyone worth the time and effort again. You remember that guy who kept hitting on me at the Wendy's drive thru a week ago?" Clementine asks.
"Ugh yeah I do unfortunately. You kept telling him no but he kept insisting. I couldn't listen to anymore if it so that's why I drove off mid-conversation."
"Well thank you because I didn't want to be there either." Clem says as they share a laugh and walk into the store.
"Look around Clem, you might find something cool." Mari says.
"I told you I'm not that big on this kind of stuff. I only know like two superheroes max." Clem says scratching the back of her head.
"Oh yeah, and who would those two be?" Mari says.
"I know Spiderman and the other guy that has like this metal suit. He had like a glowing light thingy on his chest. I don't remember the guy's name. Metal Man or something like that?"
"Iron Man, his name is Iron Man." Marli said, shoving her face into her palm as hard as possible. They both hear a snicker from behind them so they turn around and see a blonde girl with shoulder length hair fighting back laughter. As soon as she noticed Clem and Mari staring at her, she immediately stopped and started looking out the window.
The two girls begin walking around, picking out stuff to buy, mostly for Mari since Clem had no idea what 95% of the merchandise was about.
"Hey Mari? What's this big hammer thingy?" Clem asked, holding up a replica Mjolnir.
"Looks like you're worthy Clem." Mari says as she starts laughing.
"What?"
"Oh it's nothing, that's Thor's hammer. Thor is the god of thunder. He's also one of the very few people that can lift the hammer due to the enchantment that was put on it. Only those who are worthy can wield Thor's hammer or some shit." Mari replied.
"Oh. Sounds interesting." Clem says as she sets the hammer back on the shelf. They look around some more and find more replicas, making more and more questions pop up in Clem's head. "Who's outfit is this?" and "What does this do?" were among the MANY questions she asked.
"Ok chatterbox, how about we find something for you. Wait, since you have never seen a Marvel movie, how about we watch them all. We can just binge all of them. Then if Endgame is still in theaters, we can finish off strong with that. I've watched it already, but I don't mind going a second time." Mari says.
"I mean, it wouldn't hurt to give it a try." Clem says as Mari begins clapping.
"Alright. I own literally ALL of the movies on Blu-Ray, we can start just as soon as we get to my place." Mari says as she continued walking around, grabbing even more stuff to buy. Eventually she gets done looking around.
"Hey Clem, can you pay for these? I left my purse at home. I'll pay you back when when we get to my place." Mari says with a nervous expression on her face.
"Yeah sure, that's ok." Clem says, trying not to sound frustrated. She takes the stuff up to the counter and began setting it down. The blonde behind the counter looked at her and began smiling while scanning all the items.
"So...metal man huh?" The blonde says as she immediately began laughing. She couldn't continue scanning items she was laughing so hard.
"Ok, I had no idea what his name was. I'm not entirely into the whole superhero thing. Don't judge me." Clementine says as her cheeks get red from embarrassment.
"I'll try not to judge you too badly. My name's Violet." Violet says as she proceeded to scan the last item, a replica Captain America shield.
"Clementine."
"Cool name. Isn't that another name for a peach or something like that?" Violet asked.
"Orange but you were close."
"Tell me, was that your girlfriend with you a second ago?" Violet asked.
"No, that was my friend Mari. I'm currently single." Clem said.
Violet nodded as she typed a few things into the register.
"Ok your total is $80.40." Violet said, making Clem's eyes pop out of her skull.
"80 bucks!? She didn't tell me it was this expensive. I don't think I have enough." Clem said, looking disappointed.
"How much do you got?" Violet asked.
"About 50 bucks."
Violet began to smirk. "Tell you what, I'll cover the rest of the cost, if you let me take you out this Saturday night. What do you say?"
Clementine began to crack a smile. She never really thought about going out on a date with a girl, but this girl was different. Something clicked with her that never has before with anyone else.
"You've got a deal. What time?"
"6:30. That's when I get off work. Is that fine with you." Violet asked.
"It's perfect."
I decided to go back and fix some typos so now it should be ok.
