"Hey Clem, you having fun?" Louis asked. They were all having a party at his place, they had booze all over the place. They were planning on making it a fun night.
"Yeah it's great Louis." Clem said, very unconvincingly. Violet hasn't arrived yet and she had no idea why. She began to get worried so she decided to text her.
Clementine :) - Hey, where you at?
Clem sat and patiently waited for a response but never got one. She walked over to grab another beer from the fridge. She popped the cap on it, and drank. She checked her phone and it still said delivered. Violet hadn't even opened the message yet. Clem was growing more and more worrysome.
Clementine :) - Hey, I'm starting to get really worried. Can you please text me back so I can make sure you're ok?
Minutes passed by and she still didn't get a reply.
"Clem, she's ok. She's just probably stuck in traffic. She'll be here. It's raining pretty hard outside so she probably has shitty service right now or something." Louis said as he walked over to Clem, a weird look painted on his face.
"You might be right Louis. Hell you probably are. I can't help but worry about her. I mean she's my girlfriend." Clem said. She stood up and began to mingle with a few other kids. An hour passed by and Clem still hadn't heard a word from Violet. She checked her phone again and this time, it said Seen. Her heart fell down into her stomach, and her worries were becoming worse. Violet never left her on read before.
She went and looked for Louis, but she couldn't find him. She found Brody amongst the group and pulled her aside.
"Hey Brody, have you seen Louis?" Clem asked.
"Yeah, he's on the porch. why? What's the matter?" Brody asked.
"I just need to talk to him. Thanks Brody." Clem said. She walked to the front door and she could see Louis standing there, looking out to the moon. She opened the door and walked up to him.
"Louis? You know what's going on with Violet, don't you?" Clem asked, confused as to what was going on.
"She asked me not to tell you." Louis replied, taking a drink of his beer.
""Louis, tell me what's going on." Clem ordered.
"Clem, I can't do that. She doesn't want you worrying about her." Louis said. Clem almost broke down in tears. All she wanted was to help Violet. Knowing she was out there, alone, broke her heart. She grabbed Louis and stared daggers into his soul.
"Louis, please fucking tell me what's going on. I'm worried sick about her. Knowing that my girl out there is in trouble, I can't just sit by and wai-"
"-Her grandmother died." Louis said quietly, cutting Clem off.
"What? No...that...that's impossible. I just met her last week and she seemed fine." Clem said, no longer able to fight back tears. Violet's grandmother was a sweet woman with a good heart, and the fact that she's gone hurts her, but now the only thing she could think of is how Violet's doing.
"Where is she Louis?"
"Clem..."
"LOUIS FOR ONCE IN YOUR FUCKING LIFE, SHUT THE HELL UP AND TELL ME WHERE SHE IS!" Clem said as she slapped Louis. She didn't want to, but she couldn't hold back her emotions. She had to see her.
"She's at the park." Louis said. Clem grabbed her jacket and ran as fast as she could.
"She wanted to be left alone!" She could hear Louis yell from the porch.
"I don't give a shit!" Clem yelled back.
20 minutes later...
Clem had arrived at the park. It was the middle of the night so the only light she had to follow was the street lights. She walked for a few minutes looking around and she couldn't find her. She glanced over at the fountain and she saw her. Violet was soaked from head to toe, arms wrapped around herself trying to keep herself warm, face filled with sadness.
Clem ran over and stood over her, staring at her. Violet acted as if Clem never even showed up. As if she was alone.
"Vi, thank god I found you." Clem said as she tried to recapture her breath. The blonde didn't even answer.
"Violet, I'm so sorry. I know you're hurting, believe me, I am too, but I'm here now." Clem said, but alas, still no answer.
"You wanna be left alone?" Clem asked. Violet took a few seconds before slowly shaking her head no as Clem proceeded to walk over and hug her. Both girls were crying onto each other. Violet was broken. Clem knew how close she was to her grandmother and Violet was devastated.
"I'm so sorry Violet." Clem muttered as she held Violet, letting the blonde pour out every last tear.
"There there...let it out." Clem wasn't gonna let go. She could tell Violet needed her right now.
"Clem?" Violet said. To Clem, she sounded like she had no energy in her body.
"Yeah Vi?"
"Don't let me go." Violet said while tightening her grip. Clem abided by her one wish, also tightening her grip.
"Let's go back home. We're both soaked from the rain." Clem said, cupping Violet's cheek, using her thumb to wipe the tears off of Violet's face, whose only response was a nod. Clem took Violet's hand and intertwined her fingers with her own, and lead her back to her car, which was still at Louis's house.
