Birthday

Since it's my birthday today, or at least when I publish this, this chapter is gonna be birthday themed. Enjoy 😃

"Clem, that was amazing." Violet said, picking the food from her teeth as they drove out of the parking lot. Clem had taken her out for a nice expensive dinner.

"I still don't think you should have sent spent so much." Violet said, feeling bad over her girlfriend doing so much for her.

"Violet, it was the least I can do for you. It's the love of my life's birthday and I'm gonna spoil her in any way I can." Clem said as she started moving her hand over to Violet's, intertwining thier fingers.

They pull into their driveway where a car that Violet didn't recognize was already parked at. It was a retro car. They pull in behind it and get out. Violet examined the car, looking it over from front to back. She had no idea who's it was. Clem smiled and walked over to her.

"Come on, someone from the group must have got a new car and came over to show it off. Besides, I have more in store for you." Clem said, wrapping an arm around the blonde. They walked in the front door and suddenly, the lights flip on, with everyone in their inner circle jumping up to their feet. Well all of them but Omar and Willy. Omar had work and Willy was busy...being Willy.

"SURPRISE!" They all yelled in unison. Violet screamed unknowingly of what was going on until a few seconds afterwards.

"Jesus Christ guys, you almost gave me a fucking heart attack." Violet said as everyone began laughing. They ran over and have her one big group hug.

"Guys...you're....choking me!" Violet yelled. They all eased their grips and chuckled.

"Without further ado, let's get with the present giving." Clem said as she took Violet's hand and walked with her to the couch where they plopped down and everyone began bring her their gifts. Mitch and Sophie were first as they handed her this box with Christmas wrapping paper.

"Uh guys, I think you got the wrong holiday paper." Violet said.

"Who gives a shit about the wrapping paper. Just open it." Mitch said. Violet began doing exactly that and she pulled out these brand new combat boots.

"Mitch, you actually got me something somewhat useful for once. I needed some new boots. Thank you." Violet said.

"Yeah, Sophie helped me pick them out. Don't mention it." Mitch said as Sophie stared on, with a bright smile on her face. Ruby and Aasim were up next as they both handed her a small box. Violet opened up the box and it had a choker necklace inside. On the choker was a purple gemstone.

"Oh my god guys. Is this real?" Violet asked.

"Yep. That's a real amethyst. Given your name, we decided to get you one with a purple gemstone in it. Do you like it?" Aasim asked. Violet gave them a smile and immediately put it on.

"I love it. Thanks you two." Violet said. Marlon and Brody were next as they walked up with a present each. Violet took them both and began opening Brody's first. Inside the wrapping was a black box. She opened the lid and inside contained a black hoodie with her favorite band label on it.

"Brody, I love it. Thank you so much." Violet said as she hugged Brody.

"Open up Marlon's. If you thought mine was great, you're gonna love his." Brody said. Violet glanced at his and it was significantly larger than the auburn-headed girl's gift.

She unwrapped the gift and it was a guitar case. She opened the guitar case and inside was a 1968 Fender Strat, signed by Jimi Hendrix. Violet's eyes popped out of her head.

"Marlon, oh my god. Where did you get this?" Violet asked.

"Well I have been saving up for it for a while and I know how much you wanna learn how to play the guitar. Some time when we have the free time, I'll teach you if you're up for it." Marlon said. Violet smiled and hugged him.

"Thanks man. You're on." Violet said. Now it was Louis's turn. Louis just smirked.

"You've already seen your gift from me." Louis said.

"What are you talking about Louis?" Violet said, filled with confusion.

"My gift to you is my presence every day." Louis said, getting an eyeroll from the blonde.

"Oh wowww. Can I trade it in for something you know, useful?" Violet said as Louis clutched his heart, pretending to be offended.

"I was just joking Vi. That car you saw outside. That's my gift to you." Louis said, as Violet's eyes began to flicker.

"Louis, are you fucking crazy? How much money did that cost?" Violet asked.

"How much it costed isn't important. Just take care of it please." Louis said.

"Thank you Louis. I really appreciate it. More tha you ever could realize." Violet said. Last buy certainly not least was Clem. Clem stood up and smiled.

"Let me go get my gift. I'll be right back." Clem said as she walked upstairs. Sophie stood up and pulled out her phone, which confused Violet.

"Sophie, what are you doing?" Violet asked.

"You'll see." Was all that Sophie said as Clem ran back down the stairs with a envelope. She handed it to Violet. Sophie tapped the record button on her phone to take a video.

"What is this?" Violet asked.

"Open it and find out." Clem said as she put her hand in her coat pocket and left it there. Violet opened up the envelope and took out a piece of paper which read:

Violet,

I love you. Not for your looks or anything materialistic, I mean I love you. I love the way you make me melt when I'm around you. I love the way you smile, the way you talk, the way you act, and simply, I love the way you do anything. This world has been hateful to us both on numerous occasions, but we have shown them the finger every time and went on with our lives. Never would I have ever thought I would meet such an amazing person in my life. From the very first conversation we shared where you kept teasing me about my name, to when you agreed to be my girlfriend. I wouldn't take a second of time back that I've spent with you. Now I want to make another memory for us to look back on. So look up from this piece of paper and you'll find your gift.

Violet looked up to see Clem on one knee holding a tiny black box. It had a ring in it, which made Violet's heart rate skyrocket.

"Violet Adlon, for weeks I've wanted to do this, but I was never sure if you'd say yes or not. Today seemed like the perfect day to ask you this so I'm just gonna go ahead and do it. Vi, I love you. Every moment we spent together have been the best moments of my life. So I wanna ask you, will you allow for these times to continue for the rest of our lives? Will you promise to help build something together? Most importantly, Violet Adlon, will you marry me?" Clem asked. Violet just broke down crying and nodded, signaling Clem that it was a yes. Clem jumped up and pulled the blonde in for a tight hug while everyone cheered in the background.

This was it. The life that they waited so eagerly to live. They had their friends, their family, and most importantly, they had each other.
