It was the middle of winter and Clem had a bad day at work. Her boss Lilly threatened to fire her over a very small issue, and everyone practically threw her under the bus to take the blame. She had decided to walk to the bar(since she takes the bus to work) and get a drink. She walked in and it wasn't a very busy night. The usual jackasses who stand there and gawk at any girl that walked in, but an unfamiliar blonde sitting at the counter. She looked to be in a bad mood but she was sitting next to the spot that she normally sat in so she sat down beside the blonde girl.

"The usual?" The bartender asked.

"Yeah the usual." Clem said as the man placed a glass on the bar, and poured her a drink. She slid some money over the bar to him and took a drink. The blonde girl hadn't even noticed her yet. She just sat there, drinking, and staring at the bar. She looked to have had a bad day so Clem tried to cheer her up.

"Hey Nick, I'd like to buy this girl a drink. Here, pour her whatever she wants. My treat." Clem said as she slid over more money and took another drink. The blonde looked at her and back to the bar. The bartender slid her another of the same drink that she was already drinking. It looked expensive, but Clem didn't mind. She liked helping people. Even if alcohol isn't really the best way to help with your problems.

"Thanks..." Muttered the blonde. Clem smiled and held out her hand for a handshake.

"Hi. I'm Clementine." Clem said, trying to start a conversation. The girl just stared at her and back to the bar.

"Violet." The girl said, not even returning the handshake, making Clem feel extremely awkward.

"Nice to meet you Violet. You wanna talk about what's bothering you?" Clem asked.

"Why do you care?" Violet asked with a sassy tone.

"Because I've had a bad day too and it never hurts to try and make someone else's day better." Clem said. Violet took a drink as did Clem.

"My girlfriend broke up with me for some other bitch and kicked me out of the house." Violet said.

"That's shitty. I'm sorry Violet." Clem said, trying to console the blonde.

"Don't be. Not your fault. I'm used to it." Violet said, leaving Clem puzzled.

"Used to what?" Clem asked.

"Never being enough." Violet said. A small part of her heart broke hearing this girl talk like this.

"Violet, there's someone out there for everyone. You just gotta find them." Clem said.

"Why bother? No one wants me. No job, no place to live, no car. Just my miserable ass self begging for change just to spend it here." Violet said as she finished the rest of her drink and stood up.

"Thanks for the drink Clementine." Violet said as she walked out of the bar. Clem quickly finished her's and ran out behind her.

"Violet, if you have no home, where do you stay?" Clem asked.

"Anywhere where it's warm and I won't be bothered." Violet said as she turned into an alleyway and sat down against the brick wall. She pulls this cardboard box over herself for shelter. At this point Clem had enough.

"Violet, would you like to stay with me at my place? Just until you get back on your feet?" Clem asked, really wanting to take care of the blonde.

"I can't make you do that. You've already done enough by buying me a drink. That was thoughtful. Thank you." Violet said as Clem kneeled down and placed her hand on Violet's shoulder.

"You're not making me do anything. I'm doing this willingly. Come on. How does hot cocoa and Netflix sound? It's fucking freezing out here so I'm not leaving here without you." Clem said as she kneeled over and held out a hand, hoping for Violet to take it so she could help her to her feet.
