This one may be a little confusing for those people who have never played the game, but hopefully it will begin to make sense as it goes on. It is set in the world of the game, Clementine is Gunsmith who works alongside an exo named Banshee-44. Violet is part of a fireteam who is known for hunting down high value targets of the darkness.

Clementine had just completed a busy day of work, helping Banshee-44 craft and repair some weapons. She had taken the job to earn some extra glimmer. She could see a dropship coming in fast to the docking station. She watched on as all the vanguards ran over to see what the commotion was about. The people inside the dropship jump out and there was one who was badly injured. She could only hear a small portion of the conversation.

"Louis, what happened?" Ikora, the Warlock vanguard, asked.

"She got caught in an explosion. Her ghost didn't make it, but she barely made it. We got her back as soon as possible. She saved us all-" "-But at what cost?" Zavala, the Titan vanguard, asked, Cutting the boy off.

They took the girl to the infirmary, leaving Clementine worried. She didn't know the girl, but with so many guardians dying here and there, the war against the darkness would only get harder the more that people died.

"Hey, Banshee?" Clem said, trying to get the attention of the exo gunsmith.

"Yes Clem?"

"Do you mind if I take a break? I want to see what's going on with that fireteam that just landed." Clem asked, trying to find some answers.

"No I don't mind but make it quick." Banshee said as Clem ran out the door and headed to the infirmary.

She walked in and saw the same girl getting worked on by doctors. She was still unconscious from the injuries she suffered during the mission they were on.

"Hey, what's going on with the girl?" Clem asked the boy whose name she heard earlier as Louis.

"Her name is Violet, and she got beat up pretty bad. Doctors are saying she will probably lose an eye. We tried telling her not to do what she did, but she insisted on doing it for us. She took a hit from this shrieker right into her face. Her helmet is the only reason she survived. A knight grabbed her ghost and shattered it right in front of her. She stayed back to keep them from following us, knowing she would probably die just so that the rest of us can get away. We lost one out there. A guy, named Mitch. We have him to thank for her that." The guy said as he covered his face with his hands.

"Sorry, where are my manners, I'm Louis." The man reached out his arm, hoping for a handshake.

"Clementine." Clem said as she shook the man's hand.

"Would you like to meet Violet? When she wakes up that is." Louis asked.

"Sure. If she's as much of a hero as you say, it would be nice to meet her. I have to go back to work, but come get me when she wakes up. I'll be at the gunsmith." Clem said as she turned around to leave.

"I know where you work." Louis said with a chuckle. "How did he know where I work?" Clem thought to herself. She just shrugged it off, thinking that he might have just seen her working there one day.

A few hours later...

"Alright Clem, your shift is over. Here's your weeks pay." Banshee said as he transmitted 500 glimmer into her account. She waved by at him and walked out of the room only to bump into Louis.

"Hey Clem, she's awake. I told her I'm bringing a guest too. She seemed anxious." Louis said, escorting Clem to the infirmary.

They walk in and Clem can see the blonde through the window, bandages covering the top of her head. One eye was completely covered up, and the other is revealed, but barely open. She looked she had been crying.

Clem and Louis walk into the room where they were keeping her and stood by her bed. The girl just layed there, not even noticing the two standing there.

"Hey Violet, how you feeling?" Louis asked, hoping for response. Alas, he never got one.

"Violet, it's not your fault what happened. Bad shit happened. It coulda happened to anyone." Louis said, trying his hardest to get Violet to talk.

"Hey, Violet. I'm Clementine." Clem said walking up to the girl, who slowly moved her eye over and glanced at the brunette.

"Violet, I don't exactly know what happened out there, but I do know that you're a good person. It wasn't your fault as to what happened. Your friend gave his life to save yours."

"It should have been me..." The blonde muttered.

"Don't say that Vi." Louis said, trying to fight back tears.

"You know it's true Louis, and you'd have realized it sooner if you wasn't busy burying your head in the sand." Violet said, closing her eye.

"Violet, look at me." Clem ordered. The blonde just kept her eye closed, trying to tune her out until she felt a hand wrap around her arm. She opened her eye to see Clem doing it.

"Violet, I promise it's not your fault. What happened was out of your control. Mitch knew what he was doing. He willingly gave his life to save everyone else's. That's bravery if I've ever seen it." Clem said, trying to cheer the blonde up. Which seemingly worked because she thought she saw Violet crack a smile.

"I guess you're right. Thank you Clementine." Violet said. She began to close her eye, trying to fall asleep.

"I'll leave you be. Get some rest Violet. I'll come check on you after a bit. I gotta go meet up with some other guardians and discuss defenses for the tower. Sleep tight." Clem said as she gripped Violet's arm once more. She walked out of the infirmary, glad that she got to meet Violet formally, and also glad that she could help ease her pain.

Author's Note: Holy shit do I actually like this story personally. I have several ideas for the future so I might end up one day making it it's own book because I like it. I'm a nerd so sorry about that XD.
