Caroline's POV
Day One
I looked at the unfamiliar image of Aiden in front of me. Sweat soaked his skin, and his breathing was hard and heavy. His hand was gripped tightly around mine, and when I pulled away to grab supplies, something, anything to patch up the boy in front of me, he held me still.
"Please just s-stay." He begged, his voice catching, the voice coming out of him sounded like that of a stranger. "Just hold me."
I fought back the burning in my eyes and throat.
"Shut up," I commanded, "You aren't going to die."
He let out a breathy laugh.
"Stubborn," He whispered, and I pulled away, running to the medicine cabinet. I thrashed things around, grabbing only what I thought I could use.
I rushed back into the room.
"Are you still with me Leo?" I asked, voice cracking.
"Yeah," He muttered, looking up, "Yeah I'm okay, take care of him first, he got it worse."
I avoided the curiosity in my mind that begged me to ask him what he meant, and instead I looked down to Aiden's torn t-shirt. I pulled up succors and cut it off of him. Under other circumstances I would have been content with staring, but the brutal gashes lacing his skin forced my eyes away. The worst was in the lower right side. It should've been a lot worse than it was, and I could only thank his magic for his slight advantage with the injury. Just stitches wouldn't do, it could get infected, and it was still bleeding. With that much blood, there was no way I could stitch it properly.
Looking up to Aiden's face, I could see his eyes beginning to fade, and feel his heart start to slow. I smacked him lightly, commanding his attention, but it was met for mere moments before he began to fade again. Cursing, I stood up and ran to the hallway closet, grabbing a metal hanger, and then into the bathroom to grab my straightening iron. I flinched at the idea of what I had to do but there was no other way, it had to be done. I ran back to the room, plugging in the iron, and silently thanking my mom for the high dollar purchase when it heated quickly. I quickly unwound the hanger, and bent the edge, before dousing it with rubbing alcohol and pouring hydrogen peroxide on his side. His eye flinched a bit, but he remained still. I clasped the iron down on the hanger, and wishing minutes it was a frightening red. I looked at the loving boy on the couch, the sweet boy who kept a cat, and took me to dinner, and found as much happiness as I did in books. I took a deep breath, before holding his hands and pressing the hanger onto the room.
The scream that came from him shook everything in me, and I watched, in misery, as his eyes opened forcefully and he struggled against my grip. I lifted the hanger and pushed it back down, trying to tune out the pleads of my injured boy. I couldn't stop the tear that slid down my cheek with the sound of his pain. He eyes closed, and as his breathing steadied a bit, I took the opportunity and stitched the wound. For some of the smaller wounds, I just put super glue in them and let it glue closed. Aiden wasn't going to be in any fighting circuit any time soon, but he'll live.
Now on to Leo.
I moved to the other couch, lifting the blonde boy's head in mind hand.
"Tell me what happened," I asked, "Please."
"I was in town, and I heard a girl, she sounded like you, she was in trouble, shouting and stuff. But then whenever I went down the street, she wasn't there, and then all of a sudden there was a woman-"
