Leo's POV
"You're sure she's here?" Her mother asked.
"Yes, I've had a considerable amount of practice finding her lately."
"You lost her?"
"Boy oh boy, did we. I'm sure she's fine."
"Where's the other one, Mr. Tall-dark-and-handsome?"
"He's gone,"
"So it worked."
"What?"
"You didn't really think that their little magnetic connection dissapeared all on its own, did you?"
I kept my eyes on the road.
"You did, didn't you?" She asked, her voice softer, "I know you love my daughter."
My silence seemed to be enough encouragement, and she continued.
"She cares about you too, you know. I always hoped she would end up with you. Of course you're-"
"Mortal." I finished.
She paled.
"I would rather she be with a mortal than a man like her father."
She looked back to the building.
"I guess," She said, blowing out a breath, "We should get this over with."
Caroline's POV
The anger boiling in my gut was one I had felt only twice in my life. It felt like danger and freedom all rolled into one. I couldn't decide if I wanted to hide from it, or celebrate it.
"Oh i've seen that look," Beatrice said loudly with the grin of a bobcat. "This will be loads of fun! Come on, Deary, one last throw down! Our final hurrah!"
I growled as the stepped towards me.
She flicked her hand and my body hit the wall that stood behind me.
"Don't growl at me like some kind of unmannered mutt, I do not have to give you a fighting chance." She said, her voice low, and more dangerous than before.
Mittent, a voice whispered.
I knew that voice. I'd heard it at the worst points of my life.
"Come on little witch, fight back!" She yelled.
Mittent, it said again, louder this time.
"Mittent" I said, my voice coming out stronger, louder, a version of myself I didn't know. With a twist of my wrist her body lurched into the wall behind her. At a lighter time I might've grinned at my power's ability to mimic hers, but my yearning to have the fight done and over with for good outweighed the pride.
Beatrice let out a frustrated shriek before running towards me.
Dolor, the voice whispered.
I didn't bother waiting for it to get loud this time.
"Dolor" I commanded, suprise tingling my mind when she dropped to the ground and screamed.
"Stupid Bitch!" She cried, throwing her hand out, sending me flying. Again.
When I stood anger surged through my body again.
Subcinctus, the voice whispered.
Something about the word felt different. Like a new kind of spell.
Like a door I couldn't back track through.
"Are you sure?" I thought, trying to get through to the voice.
