Leo's POV
I rushed out side, shoving a hand through my hair and let out a frustrated groan when I wasn't met with the image of my best friend.
"Son of a bitch!" I shouted as I hit the car.
A note taped to the door caught my eye and I ripped it off.
Take care of Lucy.
Be safe.
Caroline
When I threw the note in the car, I pushed my hands through my hair and looked at the sky.
"Yeah dumbass," I whispered, "The sky has all the fucking answers."
I slammed the door of the car and started driving, praying that when I got to Billie's, Caroline would be waiting.
~~~
"Is she here?" I shouted when I shoved through the door.
Billie's head shot up from her spot on the couch and Lucy padded in from the other room.
"Who?"
"Caroline!"
"I thought she was with you!"
"Fuck!" I growled, punching the wall.
"Did someone take her again?" Billie asked, her voice uneven with concern.
"No," I said, my voice sounded weak and dejected and I tried not to let it fuel my anger. "Have you heard from Aiden?"
"No," She said, eyebrows furrowed, "What happened?"
"Caroline's Mother is dead, and Caroline disappeared."
"Do you have any idea where she is?"
"Her phone's upstairs, with the rest of her things, and Lucy's here." I said, "I thought if she was going anywhere first, it'd be here."
"The rest of her things?" Billie said and then her eyes widened, "What if she's back in Maine?"
"There's no way we could get to her in time," I said, ignoring the crack in my voice.
"We can't track her, Leo,"
"Caroline's gone," I said quietly, my eyes on the floor.
Caroline's POV
It hurt behind the numbness. It doesn't take a genius to guess that.
I know I shouldn't have run out on Leo like that, but if you think on it, really think on it, can you understand why?
Leo's school wanted him to be quarter back. Jane Taylor invited him to prom. He volunteered at the beach to clean up the trash. He's the boy next door.
I'm a witch. Not even a witch, an orphaned witch. The only trouble Leo ever got in before all of this was TPing the principal's house. The only time he was hurt was falling off his bike when he was eight and breaking his arm.
I lost my mom. I couldn't keep her safe. I culdn't save her.
If I couldn't protect her, what shot do I have at protecting Leo?
I have no where to go now.
CadenBay isn't home anymore. There's nothing left there for me.
But I can't feel it. Not yet. I have to do something first.
I have to kill the bitch who's responsible for my mom's death.
To kill the woman who has pulled me away from the life I loved.
She wanted us to have a final fight.
Our last hurrah.
She spilled blood, now it's my turn.
No One's POV
And so our trio has found itself pointed in three different directions.
Aiden, aiming himself towards an escape, any girl or place who could keep his mind from wondering back to the brown-eyed beauty he'd left behind. Perhaps a peaceful corner of the world that could quiet his father's voice from his mind.
Leo, looking for the only love he'd ever had, desperate to bring his best friend back home, safe and sound. An indefatigable believer that Caroline would come back.
And Caroline, our sweet little witch, was on the hunt for revenge.
As time closes in on our little friends, it seems that the end is in sight.
But perhaps, Beatrice isn't the baddest villan in the game.
Perhaps, the struggle of our trio, has only just begun.
As a darkness arises in Caroline, and other non-humans begin to take notice of her, the truth becomes clear.
This is only the beginning, the edge of the storm.
The End
