When I opened my eyes... the world was still. I was laying on the ground next to the body of Jordan's car. I slowly sat up and checked all my limbs. Fingers and toes wiggled, arms and knees bent, head felt fine, all my teeth were still in my skull, and I saw no blood, minus a few cuts on my arms. Thank God for thick jeans.

The car didn't get away as cleanly as I did. The roof was crushed in, and every window was either busted out completely, or cracked from corner to corner. Smoke was rising into the otherwise cloudless sky, and somthing was hissing under the hood. That was probably a bad sign.

I stood slowly and looked up at the way we came. It was a grassy embankment that had to be at least a 45 degree angle down. My stomach lurched. All I remembered was a lot of screaming as we flipped twice. Then it all went black.

"Shit!" I gasped. My friends had to still be in the car. I thrust my head into the empty window frame of the back seat and saw Jordan slumped to his right. A small gash on his forehead dripped down his nose, and stained his long bleach blond bangs a deep red.

I held my breath and stared intently at his chest for what felt like eternity. I watched as his chest rose and fell in at least ten steady breaths before I comfortably felt safe saying he was alive. All his limbs were bent in the correct angles, and I saw no large gashes.

I pulled back from the window and ran around to the passenger seat to check on Macie. Her window had been half way down, but it did not shatter completely.I gazed in to see her head lolled back against the headrest. Her eyes were shut, and all I could see were small cuts on her face that produced small trickles of blood.

I heard a small groan escape her lips, which caused my body to sag in relief. They were both alive, and relatively unscathed. How in the world did we manage that. I started to back away, when my eyes drifted over to the drivers seat.

My knees felt weak. My mouth went dry and I let out an involuntary gasp. In the front seat, flopped over the steering wheel, which the airbag never ejected from, was a body.

It had long brown hair, which was disgustingly matted in dark red blood that dripped down the back of its white blouse. The neck was twisted in such a way that shouldn't even be possible.

I felt naseous. My breathing came in labored gasps as I groaned "No... no no no!"

I ran around to the other side and peeked into the window. Staring up at me, with a gaping mouth and wide blue eyes... was me.
