Chapter 18

There was a moment I had just forgot but remembered once again.

Marcus and Jessica.

I went up to Marcus and tried asking him once more about him and Jessica, maybe he actually wanted to talk to me about it this time?

"Hey... Marcus, how are you, big bro?"

"Alright, what do you want?"

"Me? Want something? How preposterous."

"Oh, shut the fuck up." He giggled and poked my shoulder. "What do you want, man?" He zoned back to being serious.

"Okay, okay... but may I first just say you look wonderful today big brother." I busted out laughing just trying to both annoy him and sugar coat it.

"Dude! What. Do. You. Want?!" He started getting pissed.

I figured I should just let it out already.

"Alright, can you tell me what you meant by you asking Jessica out again... and please don't run away this time."

"Oh, that. Well, why do you care so much anyway? It's my life and I'll ask her out if I want to."

"I'm just worried about you, you're sad enough as it is and I don't want anyone to come into your life and make anything worse, only better. I just want the best for you."

"Goodness gracious, Matt! I'm your big brother, aren't I supposed to be telling you that?"

"It doesn't matter who's younger and who's older in this world, the only thing that maters is who loves you and who you love enough to protect."

"Whoa, Mr. Poetic, there... but I'll tell you if you actually want to know."

"Thank you, okay so what's going on?" I said in a therapists voice.

"Okay, okay. I like Jessica... ever since you guys brought her to the house, my heart dropped and I saw her beauty, I couldn't handle how gorgeous she is, I just want to go out with her."

The way he talked about his feelings made the exact impression he's ready for this, I think he actually is.

"Whoa... okay, you're ready. Have you talked to Jessica any time before?"

"I have, I told her about this concert. She was wearing a band shirt, a band I'm into too, I looked up the concerts, dates and merchandise just so I could start talking to her and impress her."

"That should of done it, okay. Go find her and ask her out, because..."

I faked cough and stood silent until he punched me to talk.

And he punched me.

"Talk." He said.

"Alright, alright. I talked to her too and she likes you back, she's been liking you ever since I told her about you when I first met her in the office with Tony. Go and get her okay?"

"Oh my god holy shit. Alright man, I'm going."

"Go get em, cowboy!" I yelled back at Marcus as he walked away.

He ran quickly back to me, pinched my shoulder and whispered in my ear, "Don't ever call me a cowboy, little bro."

"G- got it." I gulped and got a little scared for a moment.

Marcus can be a sweet brother, he can be a great brother, he can be poetic, he can be touching and he can also be extremely intimidating.

After all, he is older than me and a bit more power closer to our parents.
