Chapter 20
After seventh period when I saw Jenna and Jessica, we decided to skip eighth and head straight to the park... Later we find out maybe that wasn't such a great idea to do. When we got to the park, Jenna took out her cello and started playing for us like I asked her to. She started looking around and people were looking at her expecting her to play already, she isn't good with crowds so this didn't go well...
But Jenna did tell me something before any of us thought of skipping.
Let me just think about what happened before all of this.
"Hey Jenna, you sure you want to skip? I mean... you do have this whole reputation of having perfect attendance and all..." I said to Jenna when Jessica thought of skipping to go to the park then ice cream. She always has ideas, they never go well.
"I know what you're thinking, Matt. 'My ideas never go well.' You're wrong because they go perfectly fine!" Jessica ranted at me.
How did she even know what I was thinking anyways?
She's freaky but sometimes I think she's a witch at a few things.
"I'm sure, plus that isn't the problem, I've been wanting to skip with you guys because I know you've both been waiting... the problem is at this time, people are always at the park... crowds of them... a lot."
"Ooh, yeah that's right, you don't like people... I'm sorry, Jenna. Maybe we can stay here?" I suggested, I know how tormented that would make her feel. Even though I wanted to go, I wanted to go with both Jenna and Jessica.
"No, no. I'll suck it up. I'm strong, I can do it... or at least try, I know I can do at least that."
"If you're sure. Let's go."
That's right! She said she was afraid of playing her cello in front of huge crowds. I can't believe I forgot one of the most important facts about my best friend holy shit.
"You guys ready to hear me play again?" Jenna asked Jessica and I as we walk up to our spot at the park.
"Yes! But... are you ready?"
"I- I think so. I am."
"Let's do this."
Jenna starts playing her cello and people start gathering around us. After all, she is in the varsity orchestra, she can do this like she's always able too.
As she starts finishing off with her last cords, she works closer to the end of the many songs she played for us, she wasn't nervous at all actually, she was great especially under our pressure.
"Dude, that was amazing how the hell did you play so great under pressure."
"I after all am in the varsity orchestra." She brags away and does a hair flip with a snap. She truly is the sass master.
"So guys, about homecoming?" I bring up.
"Ooh yeah! It's tonight..."
"What's everyone going to wear?!" Jenna asks out excitedly.
"I don't know... dress and tux shopping! Let's go!" Jessica shouts.
"Whoa whoa, girls... who here has money?!" I asked worried, I never had money, I don't have a job, I don't get money from my dad. Hell, he even pays for my truck.
"You do! You have a credit card, don't you Matt?"
"Jessica, that's for emergency's only and if you say this is a fashion-"
