Chapter Nine: A New Beginning

Chapter 9

"What do you mean he's 'starting over with his dating,' Jenna?" Elizabeth asked nervously.

"I mean that Jason came up to-" I cut her off and told Elizabeth my side.

"Maybe I should tell her. Jason came up to me earlier today and asked me to help him with a favor. He asked me if I could help him start over with his 'dating situation.' You know how he was before? When you were with him and all he wanted to do was use girls for sex and money? The way that he saw me stick up for you and his other exes, he saw that as kind of... inspiring. He saw what respect was, I'm going to teach him how to treat people with total respect, is what Jenna meant."

"Oh... and he chooses now to change? He ruined a lot of relationships, Matthew, do you really think he can just start over his whole life? He's been playing girls since he was a young kid, but hey give it a try okay? I just do not understand why he chooses now, when he's grown up... kind of to make this decision."

"I know, I know. I'll ask him that when I take him to the mall tomorrow," I awkwardly try to change the subject even though I know what just happened here. "so how's everyone? You guys wanna come to my house after school? Jack you can spend the night if you want."

"Yeah, man sure. I'd love to. Can we go to my house first? I want to bring my laptop."

"Sure sure. Everyone else wanna come over after school though?"

They all yelled together, "yes!" Probably because they wanna see some drama go down with my parents and reuniting with my brother.

"You guys seem excited about just coming to my boring old house."

I saw Jason in the hallway and knew it was trouble...

"Hey, Matt. Still on for tomorrow?"

"Yup, and can I ask you something?"

"You just did but ask another sure."

"No games man. How come you want to start over, like what's the real reason you want to begin again?"

"Ugh, okay. Remember when you were in the cafeteria standing up for Elizabeth and all my other exes? Well... the way you were being so respectful of them, how you were being sweet. Just everything you did. Plus, you pointed out that I'm an asshole. I want to be the way you were. How sweet and respectful you are, so that's why. I looked in the mirror and all I wanted to see is how you are inside, but I just saw a disrespectful asshole. You're why I want to change."

I knew it! Fuck yes.

"Thank you, Jason. I figured that's why you wanted to. I'm glad I inspired you man."

"You're welcome and want to know another thing?"

"Sure, go ahead."

"I kind of..." He started mumbling and got quieter when he said this. "I kind of want Elizabeth back."

"What?! What did you say?"

"Nothing nothing. See you tomorrow?"

"No, no no! You said you wanted Elizabeth back, didn't you?"

"Okay fine I did say that. How did you know my mumbles?"

"Because I can hear, Jason. I do have ears like everyone else. Do you think she'll take you back after the cafeteria thing that happened? Plus... she's pretty mad about the fact you wanted to 'start over' now and not sooner."

"Yeah... she probably is, all of my exes would be if they knew and I still talked to them."

"I know, that's why you have to tell her you want her back. Okay? She needs to know, I mean... she could still have feelings for you like you do her. Tell her instead of us going to the mall because that's not going to help if you have someone you want to get back and still go to the mall scoping for girls to date."

"Fine. I'll tell her, but will you be there with me to tell her... and can we still go to the mall just to hang out? I want to get to know you."

"Okay okay, we can still go to the mall, but no checking out any girls, got it?"

"Go it. I'll see you tomorrow."

"Hey, one more thing; if you're in a relationship, you feel like it's forever... so you'd say anything cheesy or sweet to get them to smile or make them show that they love you, because when someone shows that they love you, they don't have to tell you because you'd already know. I want you to feel like that when you're in a new relationship, if you get Elizabeth back or if you don't. If you get another girl even. Just try and make yourself in that kind of relationship. Because those are the most beautiful and every girl should feel like they're beautiful. Why don't you find one and make them feel that way?

"Thank you... Matthew. I will. You're such a great advisor."

"Hey guys, I just ran into Jason and as I predicted, I was right, I was his inspiration."

"You were right! How about that." Jenna said. "So you're going to tell Elizabeth he wants her back?"

"What?! How the hell did you know that?"

"Because, I'm Jenna and I know things." She winked at me.

"No, really how the fuck do you know."

"Okay okay, ha ha. I know because he wanted to change right after he got in a fight with her, regretting it, he thought of what he said and how he shouldn't of said it. Your respectfulness reflecting off of you, he thought he should be more like you because you comforted her, he thought of what a huge mistake he made breaking up with her and saying the things he did to her, he realized he actually was in love with her, he just didn't want to believe it because of his 'bad ass reputation,' and that's how I know."

"Holy fucking shit, Jenna, You're so smart. I could have never thought that one up."

"Well, I do read online and physically. Especially college level books with over thousands of pages. I get educated off of those."

"Now that you know, you have to promise you won't tell Elizabeth or anyone else, especially Elizabeth, Jason wanted to tell her all by his self, but he wanted me right beside him. Got it?"

"Got it. I have to go to class, so I'll catch ya' after school with everyone else."

I waved bye to her and tried to catch my breath.

It was after school and we all met up at the park where my truck was parked.

"When did you get a truck, Matt?" Jack asked me.

"It's my grandfathers. He gave it to me for my birthday. I fixed it up so it looks brand new."

"Hop in everyone!" Haley said. Everyone gathered in like a cattle.

"Hey isn't that Kayla over there?" I ask Jack.

"Holy fucking shit! Dude, it is Kayla. What the fuck where did she pop out of?"

"She's walking over here, prepare yourselves." I say nervously.

"Hey, K- Kayla... how've you been?" Jack says nervously.

"I- I'm good." She was just as nervous as him.

"There's this question I've been meaning to- to ask you..."

"What is it?"

"Could you have ever looked me in the eyes and tell me you really love me? You left me, you left me brokenhearted."

"Your words were covered by failing lies."

"Every second's just a hole in my mind, can you fill that hole? I gave you everything, you were too blind to see. You were too deaf to hear."

"Can I ask you something now?"

"Of course."

"Jack, do you think we can we start over?"
