Song: Empty By Olivis O'Brien
On the way back to my room, I stare at all the other people on the fourth floor. I am nothing like them. Okay...maybe I had been like that, off in my own little world, but not now. I am doing better with the new meds.
As I am walking down the hallway, there is a girl standing with her nose only inches away from the wall. She has jet black hair that falls below her waist line and looks like it could use a good brushing. She is rambling on and on about something. I can't make out what she is saying. I wonder if that is how others look at me when I am in my world.
There is another girl sitting off to the side in a wheel chair and she is holding a baby doll. She has her hair pulled all the way back and by the look on her face she is concerned about the baby. She keeps rocking it, trying to make it be quite even though it's not making a sound and talking to it as if it is real.
Mostly everyone is just sitting around staring off into space, makes you wonder where they are...what they are thinking about. I notice that in this part of the fourth floor are only girls. I guess they don't want to mix up the sexes due to not knowing what would happen. It's not like anything would probably happen anyway considering everyone is in their own little bubble anyway. I scan the area and realize that I really don't belong here.
As I turn the corner, I come in contact with a hard body. He bumps into me so hard that I fall backwards and have to catch myself from falling all the way to the floor. Molly reaches out for my arm the same time this male reaches out for mine. Our eyes lock momentarily.
His skin is so warm against mine. "Excuse me...I wasn't looking where I was going. Sorry about that." He flashes a genuine smile.
I go to smile back at him however Molly tugs me along. "No talking with the help." As she pulls me along with her, I take a quick glance back and look at him again. He is looking down towards the floor.
I watch as he glances back at me and his honey golden brown hair sweeps past his shoulder. I catch his big laser blue eyes burning into mine. When he winks, I get this tingling feeling all down my body and I can't help but smile back at him. I wished that I could stare at him longer, however Molly is not having that and she tugs me again.
I spend the rest of my day in my room. However the next day while I am out of my room, I search for him. Well...on the fourth floor that is. I don't have clearance to go anywhere else. I catch a glimpse of him coming out one of the rooms. I watch him walk down the hallway with a broom. I watch the way he moves this way and that way, sweeping up whatever dirt is on the floor.
Today his hair is pulled back in a man bun. He is wearing the same thing he did the day before, the same grey pants and the long sleeved shirt with his name on the front. The only thing is...is that I did not get to see the whole name yesterday. I know it starts with a 'Ja' but I'm not sure about the rest.
I lean up against the wall with my fingers in my mouth. I gnaw on my nails...thinking about him. Don't ask me why; I have no idea. Maybe because he is the only male on this floor, well the part that I am in anyway. Maybe I just need some kind of interaction with him. I am still staring when he turns around and his laser blue eyes meet mine, instantly a smile forms on his face. He nods in my direction telling me to come closer to him. I don't think twice as I stand away from the wall and walk my way towards him.
"Hi..." I glance down at his shirt. "Ja-sper."
He wipes is hands down his pants and then holds it up for me to shake. "Hi...there...you are such a pretty girl...why are you in a place like this?" He looks around at everyone around us. "You don't look like you belong here."
