Song: I cant breathe by Bea Miller
Two days later I am standing in front of a freaking barn...a barn. They have got to be kidding me. I don't know what my mom said to the lawyers or the judge but whatever it was worked because here I am on this farm in the middle of nowhere instead of the physic ward.
I notice the sign over to the right hand side, 'Golden Maple Farm' Right behind it is this amazing full golden maple tree. Guess that is where they got the name. My mom gets out of the car first and then makes me get out."It's going to be alright...you will see. Come on Sophie they are coming out to greet us."
I look over and sure enough this older couple is walking over to the car. I reluctantly get out and stand behind her. I watch as the woman hugs my mom. She has this amazing smile on her face. "Jessica...it's so nice to see you again. This must be Sophie." She let's go of her and then comes over to hug me.
I take a step back. I'm not ready to just hug a complete stranger and even if this stranger knew my mom as if they have not only met before but like they actually know each other. The guy shakes my mom's hand and nods his head in my direction. "Nice to meet you young lady...hope you enjoy yourself here on the farm."I roll my eyes and my mom of course huffs about it.
So I tell him, "I'm sure...thanks for letting me stay here."
"Well let's show you to your room and then I will have someone to show you around the place." He starts to walk off towards the one house.
Don't get me wrong it was really pretty but it's not home. The house was amazing. It had a kitchen and living room for everyone to share. There were two bedrooms downstairs and three up stairs with two bathrooms. No one was in the house at the moment so I wondered how many people lived here and if someone did live here where in the heck were they.
"Well this will be your room." He says.
"Wow...it's so beautiful," replies my mom.
I look around not impressed at all. So there is a nice bed with a nice comforter that has a yellow/grey print on it and there is a dresser and one small chair with a desk. The walls are painted a light yellow to match the bed. There is only one bed in here so I assume the room will be all mine so that will be a good thing.
"What do you think Sophie?" She beams with excitement.
"Whatever."
"Well make yourself at home and I will have someone come to show you around alright."
"Yeah...okay." I set the one bag down and my mom puts the suitcase with my clothes in it on the bed.
"Would you like me to help you unpack?"
"No...I will get it later. I'm sure I will be bored to death and it will give me something to do." I give her a fake smile.
A few minutes later there is a knock on the door. "Excuse me...I'm Julie...I stay in the room next to you. Mr. Heartland asked me to show you around. We call him Mark though."
"It's nice to meet you Julie...I am Jessica and this is Sophie she will be your new roommate...or should I say house mate." She gives her a nice handshake.
I just throw my hand up in a wave."Well come with me and I will show you around."
We follow her out the bedroom and back to the main part of the house. "You will find everything here. If there is something you need just let Mark or Anna know. They go shopping once a week." She opens up the pantry. "So we all have a shelf and we don't take things without asking someone alright. If it's on your shelf it is yours...anything on this shelf is for anyone as well as anything on that counter there." She points to the counter. "The fridge is almost the same...if it's something that is your just right your name on it. Everyone is good about not messing with other peoples stuff alright."
