Chapter 5: Staying over

Narrator's POV

The following day, Jimin tagged along with Jungkook during break and lunch just like he did yesterday. His intention was crystal clear and that was to make Jungkook more comfortable around him by getting used to him, as well as making sure Jungkook saw him as a friend rather than a stranger or a person who could potentially hurt him. Jimin was sad when he first found out Jungkook was alone. Although he did not know a lot about Jungkook, just from him not having any friends or living with any of his parents, he thought Jungkook maybe did feel alone. He wasn't sure if Jungkook would ever admit that, but Jimin could see a sense of loneliness. He didn't want Jungkook to go through anything alone, which resulted in his persistence of his methods of sticking next to the kid as much as he could. It wasn't like he did this out of pity. Oh no. He was genuinely curious about the kid and wanted to be friends with him.

It was Friday and as usual, Jungkook was already seated in his classroom doing some work. What surprised him however was that Jimin was also present in the room. Jimin being with Jungkook didn't surprise him, it was the fact he was in the classroom extremely early.

"Ho-how come you're soo ea-early?" Jungkook asked him.

Jungkook couldn't help but notice Jimin's tired eyes and shadows that appeared underneath his eyes. It wasn't that visible, but as Jimin was near him it wasn't hard to pick up from his view.

"No reason. Thought you'd like some company," he smiled tiredly.

Well that's not a complete lie. Jimin thought after he said that.

Jungkook pursed his lips in thought. Something was definitely wrong. Why does he look tired?

"Is everything o-okay Jim- I mean hyung?" he stuttered.

Jungkook thought the least he could do was try to be a 'friend' to him as Jimin was trying his best to be his.

"Y-yeah. Everything's fine," Jimin lied through his teeth.

Jungkook could tell he was lying, but decided not to pry into it because if he didn't want talk about it, then he didn't want to force him.

Jungkook nodded and resumed working on his maths homework.

From time to time, he couldn't help but peer at the boy next to him. Luckily, Jimin did the most logical thing and was taking a nap beside him. This reminded Jungkook of that day he saw Jimin in the classroom. Was he experiencing the same thing that day as well?

Jungkook couldn't help but be curious on what was happening to the boy to make him soo tired.

As Jungkook was lost in thought, he didn't realise how he observed how Jimin's pink hair, which he still questioned, flowed over his arms and perfectly landed on the desk in a pattern. He looked at peace as he innocently slept. Unknowingly, a small smile appeared on Jungkook's face as he looked back at his textbook.

As he wasn't wearing his earphones, he could clearly hear the stampede that was coming towards the classroom. He knew the other students were rushing as there was only a minute left until the bell went. Although Jungkook didn't want to, he lightly shook Jimin's shoulder and that instantly woke him up.

"Hyung, Ms Choi is here," he whispered to the sleepy boy as she walked in.

Jimin let out a small and quiet yawn, before giving a small smile to Jungkook out of gratification and looked to the front.

Today was different as Jungkook didn't have literature. No today, he had P.E and all he wanted to do was hide in a corner. If you thought chemistry was bad, P.E was worse. Why? That's because the bullies could actually inflict pain on him. Throwing paper airplanes and scrunched up pieces of paper didn't really count. At times like these, he would become a human punching bag for no reason and no one new about it and if they did, they would pretend to have no clue. This was because it was better to be ignorant if they wanted a peaceful life as well.
