November 13, 333 B.C.
Joy of all joys! I have passed the entrance exam and have been admitted into the Macedonian army under our king, Alexander. (Some soldiers call him Alexander The Great because of all of his great military successes so far) I have decided to create this journal to remember all that will happen here, all the great battles that we will win, and all the adventures that I will have.
Training was very difficult. Many would-be soldiers have dropped out under the rigged training. But over 90% of the men, (including me) have passed the training and will become Macedonian soldiers and will become part of Alexander The Great’s Army. There is talk about a battle next spring.
