{this story is set shortly after Steve comes out of the ice, but before The Avengers}

"C'mon," you scoff. "You could've called, Steve. You know how to work a phone."

"Those stupid flat things? No way, I don't know which finger to put where."

You stop and put your hands on your knees, catching your breath. Steve stops next to you, not breathless at all.

"Freaking superhuman," you mutter.

"Sorry?"

"Nothing."

He sighs. "Look, (Y/N). Fury's tough. He barely let me check if I had family alive. And anyway - you really found me after all this time?"

"Of course, I never stopped looking." You look him in the eye. "Just because I lived on the other side of the planet doesn't mean I stopped missing you, stopped caring about you and stopped loving you, Steve."

He bites his lip and looks away, putting his hands on his hips. "How are you even still alive?"

You roll your eyes. "It's got something to do with the fact that my father was some Asgardian. I might even be related to Thor for all I know. I'm pretty much immortal."

His jaw drops. "Immortal?"

"Well, as far as we've tested, my body is so healthy and alive that it's unlikely I'll die for the next thousand years at least."

You start to jog again. He falls into step beside you, on your left.

"This world has changed. I barely recognise it."

You smile. "Yeah. I suppose I never really noticed because I've adjusted as it evolved."

"And yet, you haven't changed a bit," he smiles at you.

You shake your head, looking out over Central Park.

"I still love you too, you know."

Your face hardens, your heart aches. "Right. Yet you didn't call, you didn't text, you didn't even send me a letter. I got absolutely nothing from you when you were found alive in an iceberg, Steve! Do you have any idea what I went through when I thought you'd died down there? Do you?"

"My god, (Y/N). Of course I don't, but that's why I'm here, to make it up to you. To make us right again." He puts a hand on your shoulder and you stop running again, turning to look into his eyes. Mistake. You can't look away. They overwhelm you and you get lost irrevocably in their vivid depths.

You wrap your arms around his neck. His slide around your waist. You hug tightly for a little while.

"You have no idea how much I missed you, Steve. None at all."

"I swear, if I hadn't been completely out of it for seventy years, I would've missed you too. I can't live without you."

He rubs your back and nuzzles into your hair, despite your sweaty skin.

"I didn't contact you because I didn't even know where to start looking. You just appeared at the front door demanding to see me and now here we are."

He pulls away and pushes your hair out your face. "Thank you for finding me."

"Well, a super soldier miraculously found with a vibranium shield like an ice brick sounded familiar, and news travels fast around here these days."

He looks at you pointedly, smirking.

"You're welcome."

"Great, now can I please kiss you?" He pleads.

You laugh. "Yes, I suppose you can!"

He presses his lips to yours, breathing in and tucking your hair behind your ear. You kiss him back fiercely, fighting to dominate your embrace. He submits to you after a little while, letting you decide when to deepen it. He sweeps you off your feet and spins you around.

There's a low whistle from somewhere near you, followed by a voice saying, "Lucky chick."

You melt into giggles, breaking your kiss and smiling broadly at Steve. You look around. A woman jogs off, her ponytail flicking from side-to-side.

"Have I got competition, Captain?" You grin.

"Nope. I'm all yours, angel."

You kiss him again. A short, sweet kiss. He puts you down and pats your ass.

"Let's run!"

You shake your head at him as he sprints off. You lag, trying to catch up to him.

"Ah, I forgot, my ultra-awesomeness makes me faster than you."

"Oh, shut up, you. Just run."
