"Where to begin?" Raven started already looking weary.

"Do you want to take a seat?" I ask, wanting to make him as comfortable as possible, I knew that it had to be hard on him, considering what happened to my mother.

"Of course, let me get comfortable." Raven grew into the black cloak and hood he wore when carrying out executions, then he took a seat.

"Well, it started when the jester and I received a mission from the White Queen in our homeland of Chess. We were to steal the Queen of Hearts' heart."

"So that's what happened, you stole her heart, she turned heartless." I put the pieces together in my mind.

"No, though that was what we planned to do, it didn't happen that way. The King hadn't picked a bride yet, Time works differently in Hearts than in Chess, so it was before the King had proposed to your mother. They were at a black and white ball your mother was forced to wear a red dress, catching the King's attention. The jester was his joker and performing at this ball and he took everyone's breath away, including your mother's. Just before the king was about to propose, she ran out to the garden and fainted, due to her corset being too tight. The jester and I found her there. We then woke her up with the sweet scent of roses under her nose, though I think using water would've been better," Raven paused and chuckled remembering the moment.

"A rose?" I asked not sure if I heard right.

"Yes, and a white rose at that. You know, she didn't always hate them. Either way, the jester stole her corset strings, so she could breath better. She didn't notice, though she did ask if she knew him and if he had something of hers. He said perhaps it was Time's work, showing her something that would happen in the future. He then gave her a piece of chocolate, she declined it out of the fear that she would throw up, he only said that if that happened she could enjoy it twice. We sent her home early, and only when she was about to close the carriage doors did he give her the corset strings back. She looked absolutely mortified." We laughed together, I enjoyed the story, but I knew it would get worse.

"She went home. So was that the last time they saw each other?" I asked.

"No, that was only their first meeting. Many more would come." He stared off into space, he must've been remembering good times. The clock chimed, it was nearly midnight. Raven looked startled and stood up.

"I need to get back to your mother, though you didn't eat tonight did you?" He asked. I only nodded in reply, "Here's some bread I saved, I hope it helps." He turned to go but before he did I asked a question that was nagging at the corner of my mind, I was interrupted by the clock chiming midnight.

"Will I see you tomorrow night after the ball?" I asked hoping he would say yes, though he only nodded in response. With that he leaped out the window, turning back into the raven version of himself.

"Goodbye!" I yelled, but he was already gone.

A/N: Hey! I just wanted to say that this book has no set schedule for publishing, even though I have been publishing everyday. I don't want to be asked, "When's the next part coming out?" When in truth, I don't know myself. I try my best, but please be lenient.
