I woke up to someone shaking me awake, it was just my maid, Heather.

"Princess, get up and dressed, your breakfast is on your dresser. Once your finished head to the seamstress, she wants you to try on your dress."

"Okay, what else do I have on my schedule today?" I ask, wanting only wanting to lay in bed forever.

"Nothing, unless an execution comes. At 4 o'clock you will get ready for the ball, but that's it."

"4 o'clock! The ball doesn't start until 5 o'clock!"

"Yes, but you do have to get your hair and makeup done, and that will take at least 45 minutes, then the Queen would like to speak to you and make sure you look okay. Now, get ready." With that Heather left the room. I got dressed into a red dress with white roses on it, something I would never wear in front of my mother, but I wouldn't be seeing her until I had my gold dress on, so it didn't matter.

As I started eating I heard a tapping at my window. It was Raven again, though I knew that I wouldn't have time to listen to more of his story. I opened the window anyway.

"I ask that you forgive me once more, for tapping at your chamber door." He was sadly back to his rhyming ways.

"I don't mind it," I say meaning it too, "though today I don't have time to talk, I have to go try on my dress. You can get comfortable if you like."

"I came to apologize, but I must stay in my disguise. Last night I flew out in a haste, a memory I hope to erase." I knew that he was talking about last night he was apologizing, but I didn't mind him rushing out.

"Don't worry about it Raven, I know that you had to get back to Mother. You could spend the day with me today if you would like." I knew it was a stretch but I wanted to ask.

"During the day, each other we must evade." I understood, if anyone was to learn of us talking, we could get into serious trouble. I finished my food and told him I was to be off, he only nodded sadly.

As I walked down the halls, I couldn't help but think about how Raven always rhymed during the day, last night was the only time I heard him talk normally, I had no idea he could talk without rhyming.

As I walked into the seamstress's room I saw that she had been working all night on my dress and that her eyes had bags under them. She nonetheless, ushered me in and told me to slip on the dress so she could adjust anything so it matched my body shape perfectly. I stood as still as possible, letting her do her work, she occasionally muttered something about my tiny waist, it is smaller than she thought, even though she took measurements of it yesterday.

When we finished it was after lunch, and the dress fit like a glove, the seamstress admired her handy work and told me to twirl. The glittery fabric went from gold to a shimmery blue, then back to gold. I loved it.
