The first half of the ride was silent. I was sneaking glances at Raven, wondering when he would ask about last night. Finally, when I thought that I would go crazy because of the silence, he spoke.
"Last night was..." he trailed off probably having trouble thinking of a rhyme to go along with what he thought of last night, "exciting, though very, very frightening."
"Exciting? What do you mean by that?" I was confused, how was what happened exciting.
"We will talk about this tonight, because rhyming is hard to try as I might." I knew what he was talking about, how he always talked in rhymes, but at night he always talked without rhyming.
"Can't you talk without rhyming, or is it just your public appearance you're worried about?" I asked.
"I fear it is worse, for I have a curse." He snapped, I wanted to ask more questions, but I figured that he wasn't really in the mood to talk about his, condition.
"I must admit, the only reason I wanted to go to this house is that I wanted to talk to you about last night. Though, now it seems silly, not to mention the fact that it's harder to talk about than expected." He smiled knowingly. I was relieved for I had feared that he was mad at me.
"After a few minutes, we'll insist we must go, for you'll have to get ready for a show." Raven said, I liked his plan, but there was one fault to it.
"What if they ask Mother about the show?"
"We could simply say, you have to get away." I was sure he had a good plan, explaining it in rhymes must've been what was confusing me.
"So after a few minutes I can say that it was a lovely meeting, but I had to go back to the palace?" If I was getting the gist, the plan was simpler than expected. To my relief, Raven nodded, confirming the plan.
After a few minutes, the carriage came to a quick stop. Raven opened the door and ushered me out. He was back to the faceless subject of the Queen of Hearts. I was back to the girl that would soon take the throne. To some even, the prettiest girl in the Kingdom of Hearts.
As I walked slowly down the long driveway, I realized that if this house was near the center of Hearts, I would be recognized instantly. I was lucky that I had picked a family near the edge of Hearts.
"We'll just stay for about half an hour," Raven whispered in my ear.
"Okay, I'll tell them we have to go, so you don't have to rhyme."
"Thanks."
We finished our brief conversation as the family came to greet us, they were a small family; a mother, a father, and two sons. I felt bad for them, they had so little company. They looked hopeful that I would stay and give them a bit of company, though I was sure that they just wanted Raven to leave. He was intimidating.
"Greetings," The man that appeared to be the father of the family said, "We welcome you with open arms. This is my son Colton," he motioned to the older of the two brothers, "You danced with him last night. He was wearing the dragon mask."
A/N: Hey! Sorry, I haven't posted in a while, I'm sure that I'll be posting more once school is over, but I also have some personal things that are coming up. Don't worry though, one of the main things that have held me back when writing was the fact that I needed to refresh my memory with "Heartless" but now I have it so no worries! Thanks for all the support and I hope to publish more soon. Also, what are your opinions of would you like longer chapters and me possibly not posting as much, or shorter chapters and more frequent updates? Let me know!
