"How long has that been there?" Adriel asked Lex.
"It started when you started talking about the Queen and Jest." Lex answered truthfully.
"Should we cut them off her?" I asked hesitantly.
"No, we should leave them, since we obviously didn't cause the roses to grow, they should disappear on their own, so the best thing we can do it wait with these types of things." Adriel answered. The answer made sense, but I really didn't want to wait for the roses to go away, but I also knew it was the only way that wouldn't hurt Rose.
"Fine. How long do you think the roses will take to go away?" I hoped that it wouldn't be too long.
"I don't know, it could last as long as an hour, or it could last the whole day depending on how strong the magic is." Adriel told me sadly. I had a feeling that it wasn't weak magic, so I knew that I couldn't ask to wait with her all day.
"Can we take shifts watching over her?" Raven asked, "That way when she wakes up she won't be as confused."
"That sounds like a good idea, who wants to take first watch?"
"I will." Oceane spoke up. I was surprised considering she barely knew Rose, though I guess she wanted to pitch in to help. That or turn Rose against me, though she wouldn't do that. Right?
"Okay, Oceane you can watch her for two hours, and then after that you switch with someone else." She directed, as a few people went to leave the room she announced something else, "And everyone, the first thing you should do when she wakes up is to get me. Okay?" Everyone nodded.
Soon everyone left the room and the only other person that remained was Oceane (And Rose duh).
"Take care of her okay?" I asked, she nodded. As I left I saw Adriel standing in the doorway. "What's up?" I asked. I hoped she didn't want to much from me, I wanted to be around when Rose woke up.
"I need a brief summary of what happened while you were in the castle. You disappear for weeks with no report. Tell me what happened."
"You know that Hatta dude that Jest talked a little bit about? I met him once to ask him if he knew the best way to get in the castle. When I met up with him we got ambushed by Playing Card Guards. Hatta ran away while I tried to fight. I got captured and for what I assume was weeks since you told me I was gone for weeks. They tried to get information out of me, like how did I get into contact with Hatta, what I was doing with him. They beat me up trying to get an answer out of me. I would pass out and then due to me being part of the White Queen's guards, I would be perfectly fine the next day. This continued until one day I was brought before the Queen and her daughter. I saw something in Rose's eyes that told me that she didn't want to see me killed. So instead of begging for mercy, I talked back to the Queen. I knew that if I needed to I would be able to get out of the situation. The Queen was forcing Rose to watch the execution, When Rose yelled wait, the Queen just thought it was because she didn't want to watch someone get killed, they argued a bit eventually they came to the agreement that if I was good for two weeks I could go free. If I wasn't," I shrugged, "Well I would get executed and something awful would happen to Rose."
"Well, that seems eventful." Adriel commented.
"Not done yet. I was to stay with her with Raven to protect her. I thought I got so lucky finding one of the Rooks. So I figured that Jest was nearby, then I learned that he died. Then I learned that he was alive after Rose said something, locked herself in the washroom, he came to rescue us. Then I learned that he worked with the same resistance as me. THANKS FOR LETTING ME KNOW! It could've saved me some time and then I wouldn't have to find out that Jest died and now is somehow alive! Why didn't I know!?" I had to let out some anger from the fact that the person I had been looking for had been working with me for the past 6 months.
"I-I'm sorry Alex."
"Sorry doesn't cut it!" I yelled back, "Why did you keep this from me?" I had reached my breaking point, I had been holding in my anger for Rose, to put her first, to make sure she was alright. But the anger had to go somewhere and I couldn't hold it in anymore. I had snapped and yelled at Adriel.
"I-It's just better this way." She avoided my question and walked away. I was left alone with my anger as I started heading towards my room, feeling only slightly sorry.
A/N: Hey guys! I'm sorry that updates haven't been frequent, it's just been hard for me to write. Last night(more like this morning) I was reading 'Renegades' by Marissa Meyer for the first time and I finished it within 24 hours of starting the book. So, now I need the second book, it's checked out so I put a hold on it at the library, but the library doesn't have the third book. I'm sad. I'm also planning on doing a Q&A with two other authors so if you have questions tell me. I will gladly answer them. Also would any of you like the idea of me writing either a Descendants story, where I add another VK that went with the original 4, or I could write a fan-fiction on the WebToon story 'Unordinary' (go check it out!), and I also have thoughts on doing a story with people with elemental powers. Tell me if you have any other ideas you would like me to write about! And tell me which of those you would like to see me write about first since I'm not going to do them all at the same time. Sorry that this chapter is shortish, I don't have any inspiration because Rose keeps going unconscious. More to come soon though!
