I slipped into my dress quickly, and I couldn't help but think that after this ball I would be able to leave the castle. I couldn't wait. I soon was sat down at my vanity and Heather started applying makeup and kohl to my face. The kohl lined my eyes, making them pop, and then she drew a small heart on my cheek, it was black. She painted my lips a deep red that popped out against all the gold and black that I was wearing. She used rose gold eye shadow and then my makeup was done.

We moved over to my jewelry box to pick out accessories to go with my look. She picked out red ruby earrings, and a gold headband, she picked out a red ribbon and braided it into my hair, letting my long hair hang the rest of the way down. My black hair loose went all the way down to my waist, my mother never let me cut it saying that it was my best feature. A knock at the door startled me, Heather went to answer it.

"Her Majesty sent these over for the young princess to wear, it was an order she said." The man at the door thundered.

"Of course, I understand." Heather answered she closed the door and when she turned back to me she was holding a shoe box.

"So I take it I'm wearing these for my shoes whether I like it or not?" I asked already knowing the answer.

"Yep, though they're black flats, and look quite comfortable." She answered trying to make me feel better.

"Let's put them on so then I can go get Mother's approval." I said. As Heather opened the box I gasped, on the shoe there was a small white rose, I was shocked. It proved that my mother didn't always hate white roses, I loved them instantly. As I slipped them on they seemed to fit my feet perfectly, they were magical.

"Alright, let's go show Queen Catherine." Heather said, knowing that my mother would want to see my complete look. I only nodded, maybe Raven would be with her. As soon as the thought entered my head I knew it was silly, we couldn't talk to each other in front of her mother. We walked down the hallways I couldn't help but notice that my shoes made no sound as I walked, I could sneak about the castle easily if I wanted.

We walked to the ballroom balcony, my mother was overseeing the maids decorate the room. I saw her and immediately knew why the seamstress suggested gold for my dress, my mother wore an elegant silver dress that trailed behind her on the floor, she wore bright red lipstick and her brown hair was up in a bun. We looked like we planned to wear these dresses.

As she turned I could see that even though she was heartless, she enjoyed me being dressed up. Her eye surveyed my dress and body, as she reached my head she skipped over my eyes and looked directly at my hair. She seemed shocked that I had kohl on my face, as I was never fond of it.

Then she looked me directly in the eyes and said, "Rose, you are a spitting image of your father."

A/N: So the picture at the top is a picture of Rose, I've made one of her dress though it's not very good. I'll add a second attempt at her dress without color at the top of the next chapter.
