Destiny turned to the nurse ignoring Makayla. She wanted to know more about Travis' condition. The nurse paged the doctor on call to explain to her his injuries. The doctor came 10 minutes later and told her what happened and said the surgery has a 50/50 chance of effectiveness and there's a possibility he might not make it through.
Destiny instantly felt a pain in her stomach. "He could die? Isn't there another way?"
"Yes But it's a bit longer and Mr. King might not be able to play for a long time." He pointed Makayla's way. "His partner signed off on the surgery so we were taking him down tonight."
Destiny shook her head. "No I'm his wife and I don't think the surgery is a good idea."
Makayla smacked her lips. "He may never play again. What kind of life will he have when basketball is his way of life, it's who he is. I-"
"Shut. Up!" Destiny yelled at her. "He has more than basketball to worry about, he has a child he has to live for. You just gonna miss them checks right hoe? What if he dies huh? What then?" Destiny was an inch away from smacking her in the head.
"Look doc I still say go ahead with the surgery." Makayla didn't care what Destiny said.
The doctor looked her way. "I'm sorry ma'am but as his legal spouse, only Mrs. King can decide."
Makayla rolled her eyes in frustration. "Fuck this I'm out." She grabbed her bag and walked out. She wasn't with the idea of Travis not playing for that long a time.
Destiny put her attention back on the doctor glad she left. "Can I see him?" The doctor nodded and walked her to Travis' room. When she walked in she saw him hooked up to different machines just lying there and Destiny's heart broke seeing him like that. She took a deep breath, wiping away the tear that fell and walked over to him.
She held onto his hands and just looked at him as the tears fell. "Oh baby, please come back to me. Don't die on me." She sighed and rubbed her hand over his.
"Wow Destiny.." She quickly looked up and saw Adisa standing by the door.
"Adisa.." Destiny stood up and before she could explain anything he shook his head and walked out. "Adisa, wait." She tried to catch up to him but he made it to the elevator before she caught him. She sighed and texted him to call her then she went back to the room with Travis.

*Destiny had spent the night at the hospital with Travis hoping he woke up but he didn't so her plan was to go back later with Bella. Before she went home she decided to stop by and talk to Adisa since he didn't return her messages or calls.
She knocked on the door about three times before he answered. When he saw her his face went serious. "Baby.."
"According to what I heard Travis is yo baby." Adisa spat causing Destiny to sigh.
"Adisa please let me explain."
He propped up on the side of the door frame. "I'm listening."
"Look what you saw was me in a vulnerable position. I mean he's still Bella's father so he's going to always have a place in my life."
"Destiny I get he's Bella's dad and all that but what I saw last night look like you dealing with some unresolved feelings for him and I don't know if I wan-"
"No no Adisa. Don't do this." She held both sides of his face. "I'm with you."
He removed her hands. "Yeah for now. From what I saw, I know one day you gonna leave me for him."
"No I won't baby."
"Destiny, look at me and tell me you not still in love with him." Her eyes shifted away from him and he saw. "Guess that's my answer."
"Adisa this is harder than you think.."
He shook his head. "Nah. Look Destiny I don't want to be coming second to Travis. If that's the case let me know."
Destiny sighed and her eyes started to water as she fiddled with the ring on her finger. This was the hardest thing she ever did. She slipped it from her finger and she held it up. "I'm sorry." She dropped the ring in his hand and walked away.

*"Thank you doctor." Destiny said to the doctor after his update on Travis. She held Bella in her arms as she sat down beside his bed.
"Dada." Bella reached out to touch him. Destiny smiled. Bella held onto his finger which soon after started twitching. Destiny leaned forward when his eyes fluttered open.
"Travis?" She held onto him as his eyes adjusted to the light.
"Destiny." His voice was groggy as he tried to sit up wincing in pain. Destiny got up to help him putting an extra pillow behind him. "Damn, I feel like someone beat the hell outta me."
"Well you were pretty banged up from the accident. What happened by the way?"
"I don't know, I took my eyes off the road for a second and then just like that.."
"Wow. Need to more careful."
"Yeah. I'm glad you're here though. After this happened I realized I needed to do better by you and Bella." Travis held onto her hand.
"Travis.."
"No Destiny, let's not go through with the divorce. Please just let's work on our marriage, let's be a family for Bella."
Destiny sighed. "I'll think about it." She looked at Bella who was fussing up and she took her up. "I'll be back."
After she left the room the doctor came in to see Travis. "Mr. King, how are you feeling?"
"Just a little sore."
"Okay that's going to be expected for a few days but due to the damage to both knees you won't be able to walk for sometime but we have the number of a really good physiotherapist you can try."
"Aight."
"Oh also, we found traces of cocaine in your system after a few tests. So I need to ask, were you under the influence before your accident Mr. King?"
Travis looked up to the doctor surprised and also hoped Destiny wasn't there to hear what he said.
