~Mia's pov~

I saw my mother standing in front of me, her hair made up into a neat braid, while she wore a very clean and white dress that flowed down her curvy body. She had flowers in her braided hair and she had her back turned towards me, looking out into the beautiful waterfall. The waterfall rushed down, it ran down almost magically, making no sound whatsoever.

It was completely silent, it was almost soothing seeing it the waterfall. My mother didn't seem to hear me, as she kept staring at the waterfall.

I approached cautiously, my footsteps and heavy breathing were the only sound that was heard.

"Mom?" I whispered out again and stood behind her. I could just reach out and touch her.

My mom didn't turn around at all, she kept looking out and ignoring me.

I hesitantly reached out and touched her shoulder. She immediately flinched and turned towards me. I gasped out in shock when I saw her. I got a good look at her, seeing her crystal brown eyes look at me. She looked the exact same when I saw her in photos my so called 'father' showed me before he turned evil. She had a startled expression on her face when she looked at me.

"Mom?" I asked one last time, the eyes felt like I had just cut an onion since it felt stingy and tears pricked at my eyes.

"Who are yo- Wait- You look so familiar- Do I know you?" My mom asked, removing the hand I had on her shoulder.

"Mom- it's me- your daughter." I said, desperately trying to make her remember.

"I'm sorry but I- I don't know you."

"Mom! It's me!"

"I have no clue on what you're talking about! Stop calling me your mom! I am not your mother!" My mother was getting irritated- I can hear it in her tone.

I took a couple steps back, a tear leaking from my eye and rolled down my already tear stained face. I took a deep breath and exhaled. I nodded, looking at her dead in the eyes.

"Maybe you are right- maybe you aren't my mother- but I am certain- that you are the woman who gave birth to me and passed away minutes later after doing so." I told her the truth.

"Maybe you aren't my mother because you never got to see me grow up and raise me as your own." I said shakily, pointing a finger at her.

"I've dealt most of my life with your husband as my father- putting the blame on me for your death." I accused her even though I knew it wasn't really her fault- I just needed to blame someone right now.

"My husband would never do that. We have a lovely daughter and he would never disrespect her and me." She said calmly, her eyebrows furrowing.

I laughed bitterly at that, "You really think so? He probably is drinking in the club with his new wife- my step-mother."

"That can't be true-"

"But it is. Where is your husband and daughter right now?" I urged her to answer the question.

"I-I honestly don't know. He said he would be back with little Mia yesterday. I'm just waiting for them." Mom said sadly.

"How long do you think you've been here?"

"I told you- they left yesterday- they'll come back any second now and my husband will shoo you away." She threatened me.

All I did was shake my head in disapproval, bringing my right hand up and wiping the fallen tear with the back of my hand. "It's been twenty-two years mom. You're not going to see us again." I informed her, looking back at the dark tunnel.

"What do you mean?" She asked confused.

"My name is Mia Hudson and I am twenty-two years old, still holding the burden my own father put on me saying my own mother died because I was born. Wishing that I was never born to get back the love of his life." I paused, then continued. "I've learned to move on, move on just a few minutes ago while my father hasn't. I should've learned to move on earlier." I whispered out the last sentence.

I heard the tunnel of nightmares call out my name, intriguing me.

"Mia! Wake up!" I heard a faint voice call out from the dark void.

"Y-you.." I heard my mom's voice behind me.

"I'll see you sooner or later mom, hopefully you find peace here." I said softly, walking towards the tunnel.

"Wait!" She stunned me by grabbing my hand when I took a step further away from her. I flinched and quickly removed her hand that was around mine. I examined my hand once more, seeing it swell a bit more. I rubbed my thumb over the swelling soothingly, trying to numb it a bit. I looked up from my hands and saw my mother put a hand over her mouth as she finally took a good look at me from my head to toe then back.

"I-I'm so sorry I-"

"It's fine." I said bluntly, feeling my emotions slip and it was replaced with nothing. I kept a blank facial expression on my face.

"I-I can't believe it's you.. I-I've been gone for t-twenty-two y-years?" Mom asked in shock and disbelief.

"Yes, you have. You passed away twenty-years ago- when I was born." I repeated what I said before.

She took a few steps closer to me and examined my face, then slowly wrapped her arms around me which shocked me. It took me a couple of seconds to respond but I hugged her back either way, loving this motherly love I have been missing most of my life. She pulled back and rested her hands on my face, a few tears trailing down her face.

"You've grown up so much." She said proudly and sadly. "I wish I was there for you through everything- to comfort you when my husband didn't."

"Me too." I whispered out, remembering that when I was little, I would pray to get my mother back and that she would just walk into my room with her bubbly personality and tell me that she was there. But that never happened.

She hugged me again, I didn't want to let go from this hug, but I knew I'd have to eventually. "Mom, I don't want to leave." I told her, nuzzling my head into the crook of her neck.

She stroked my hair, and told me that I didn't have to leave. I sighed contemplating whether or not I should go. I removed my head from her neck and stared at my mother's eyes.

"I'm sorry mom, but I have to. I have people back there that needs me." I told her, missing everyone back home.

My mother laughed softly, tucking a piece of hair behind my ear that was in front of my face. "You've grown up and matured so fast." She kissed the top of my head and let go of me, wiping the tears from her own face.

"I'll see you soon."

"I'll see you soon too, mom." I waved goodbye at her one last time, and headed towards the direction the voice was coming from: the tunnel.
