Jack

The bell rang as I finished trying to making Elsa feel better. Its my job to protect the people of the world after all. My next class was my elective, it's called Children Charity. The class pretty much just travels to an orphanage or something and we play with the kids for a bit, like a 45 min field trip. It usually makes my day better. I made my way to the front of the building where two buses were waiting. I caught a glimpse of Flynn heading onto the second bus and I followed him on. He sat at the very back and I sat across from him.

"Hey dude," I said to him, he startled. Must've not known I was there.

"Oh, hey. I didn't see you there," he said.

"Its cool dude. Hey, I didn't know you had a thing for kids."

"Its not something I usually share."

"Well, you wanna talk about it now? You know my reason and secret for being here. What's yours?"

"When I was a kid, I not only stole but I was an orphan. I ran away when I lost hope and that's what started my 'career'. I liked to also read a book to my fellow orphans. The Tales of Flynnigan Rider. He was like my hero, but I was jealous of him. He had everything, and I had nothing. So the day I lost hope, I realized I wanted a life like his. I just didn't know stealing wasn't the way to get it. So I know how these kids feel. I just don't want them to lose hope like I did and choose a wrong path."

"I see," I said. The bus started moving just as I heard the bell ring outside, our class must've started. "Well, what happened after you started stealing?"

"You sure you wanna hear my life story?" I nodded. He sighed and cleared his throat. "Well, after I ran away, I met these two teenagers. I was only seven or eight at the time. I met them in an alleyway one night while I was on the run from the police after stealing some food from the supermarket. I hid behind a dumpster and started to cry like I had for the entire month it had been since I ran away. I felt their footsteps coming towards me. I looked up and saw them, they each had a villainous glare plastered to their faces. They picked me up and carried me somewhere. I thrashed against them but it didn't do anything. I was scared I might die," he said, his voice cracking as he did.

"Eventually they brought me into an abandoned building and they set me down. They started to ask questions. Like how old I was, what my name was, why I had run away. I answered them, but only out of fear. Their final question was if I wanted to help them with their thievery. I wanted to say no, but... they gave me a hope of them being my family. I said yes and they used me to fit into tight spaces, and to grab certain things that I could. I thought it was a family thing, but they were just using me."

"Eventually there came a special item we wanted to grab and sell. It was something that would be able to grant many riches, and it was owned by Rapunzel's mother, Gothel. It was a bracelet made from from gold and sapphires. It was something of great value and the boys wanted it. They sent me in because she was told to have a soft spot for children. We made a plan for me to knock on her door and ask for shelter. It went as planned and she let me in. She gave me food and a place to sleep at night. I stayed for three days trying to know where it might be. On the third day however, I finally caught a glimpse of the girl she took care of. Rapunzel. We talked and I found myself telling her everything. Gothel overheard me and wanted to harm me at first for my trickery. But Rapunzel convinced her to give me a second chance. And she did, I finally had a family. A real one. I never saw the boys again but I'm sure they hate my guts. But, like I said, I don't want other kids making the same mistake I did." He sighed. I patted him on his shoulder.

"Sorry to pry, I didn't know."

"Its fine, you deserved to know, all of you do. I'm just scared to share it. I'm also ashamed of it."

"Well, you're a changed person now. That's all that matters." The bus stopped and I looked outside, we were here, the Neverland orphanage for today. "Looks like we're here. Lets go, the kids are waiting." Flynn and I stood up and stepped off the bus and into the orphanage.

The lobby was quite impressive. It looked like something people dream about. It was just unreal. I saw sword fighting over in one corner of the room, and story-reading in another. The teacher went to check-in our class and get our assignments, if any were required. I felt a tug on my pants-leg. There was a little boy that looked a lot like my old pal Jamie, he passed a couple years ago. That was the worst day of my life. I held in the tears from the memory and smiled the young boy.

"Will you play with me?" He asked me. I kneeled down next to him.

"Sure, what's your name kiddo?" I asked him.

"I'm Anthony, Anthony Caren. I don't have anyone to play with anymore." He looked up at me with sad little eyes. I smiled and stood up and we walked over to a corner of the lobby.

"Why don't you have anyone else to play with Anthony?" I asked, I was curious.

"The other kids think I'm weird, and my sister hasn't come back from our hide-and-seek game." I looked at him sadly, I wondered what happened to his sister. I could ask North, but it would have to be in awhile.

"Why do they think your weird Anthony?" I decided to ask.

"My sister was different and they were afraid of her magic, I wasn't though. They are scared I have magic too."

"Well, you know. Magic isn't a bad thing. Wanna see my magic?" He nodded right away, and smiled at me. I waved my hand in the air and watched as little snowflakes danced in our corner. He watched them in awe and I smiled down at him. Then my curiousity took over.

"Anthony, what's your sister's magic?" I asked. His eyes widened with fear at my question and I looked at him back confused.

"I'm not allowed to say, or the scary man with come back." He said as he started to shake. I wrapped my arms around him protectively.

"Hey, its okay. Can you at least tell me her name?" I whispered, trying to calm him down.

"Skylar. Her name is Skylar."

"That's a cool name, maybe I can try to find your sister for you," I promised him.

"Really?" He asked me excitedly.

"Yeah, it just may take awhile." I assured him.

"Yay! Thank you! Now come on lets go play!" He announced dragging me over to a pile of toys. We played for the rest of the class period. After awhile we had to go and i promised Anthony I would come back. He waved back at me as our bus left and I watched out the window as we headed back to school.
