                         ~Zurine's POV~

I look around myself, making sure my gun is tucked securely in my waistband. It's surprisingly cold tonight, different from now it's been lately. The house across the street is loud and has people outside. The sight reminds me of the houses I would go to when I was younger to get my drugs.
I never messed with gang shit because of the way my dad was. He was involved and let it take over his life. After a few years of being in it, he left my mom and I and never tried reaching out after that. I was the oldest so I took responsibility for trying to provide for my brother. My mom tried her best until she got fucked up on drugs too and it's a miracle my brother didn't turn out the same. He died young and he couldn't of been less deserving of that.
Some of the guys in the front turn to look at me, trying to look hard but it just looks like they stepped on something painful. Inside, the music is even louder and it smells like alcohol. I spot Junior bear the couches, his arm wrapped over a brunette's shoulders. His eyes widen when he sees me.
"What the hell are you doing here?" He asks, straightening up. I recognize the girl as Eliza, Ida's best friend. Poor girl is too young tinge getting herself into all this shit and he's just allowing it. At least Santi has kept Ida away from it all so far.
"I need to talk to Castel," I tell him. He shakes his head, his arm falling from her shoulders. "Either you tell me where he is or I'll find him on my own. Santi got shot tonight. I just need to talk to him about some things."
Tears automatically father in his eyes. "I-is he okay?" He asks. "Who did it?" I clap my hand on his shoulder, making sure to make eye contact before he can look anyway from me.
"As far as I know, which isn't a lot, he's fine. But I need to talk to Castel about...things." He looks around, his body tense. His gaze drops down to Eliza.
"Go over with Dante; I'll be back soon," he tells her. She gets up and we both watch as she walks over and sits down next to the big man with tattoos on his neck. He looks up and nods at Junior.
I follow him up the stairs to the clear hallway. The smell changed from alcohol to cigarettes and weed by the third step. Junior knocks on one of the doors loudly, making sure whoever is inside can hear it over the music. The door swings open. A girl with extremely delayed pupils opens the door. She looks familiar, but she also has a face that looks like many others.
"Is Castel in there?" He asks her. She shakes her head then squeezes her eyes shut. Seeing this definitely doesn't make me miss the feeling drugs gave me; it makes me feel disgusted with myself. Is this what I looked like to other people at the time? Was I just as out of it? I just have been because I don't remember much during that time of my life. "Where is he?"
"Other room," she says, her voice sounding like she hasn't slept in days. She probably hasn't. "He won't let you in, he won't let anyone in there. He's hiding something." Junior and I side eye each other. She could just be tweaking, but by the looks of it, Junior believes it.
    "Hiding what?" I ask.
"I don't know," she says, eyeing me like I'm a bag of meat. The look she's giving me makes me feel sick to my stomach. Fuck, I love my wife. Junior closes the door for her, groaning. I hurry over to the only other door and pound on the door.
"He's gonna best your ass if he's actually in there," Junior tells me. I ignore him and keep knocking. The sound of the locks turning makes me stop. The door opens just a little, Castel only showing part of his face.
"What the fuck are you doing?" He says, looking me dead in the eyes.
"I need to ask for a favor."
     "Now isn't the ti-"
"Santi got shot by a cop," I blurt out. He closes the door all the way. I lean against the wall, keeping my head down. Junior paces back and forth with his hands in his pockets. The door opens again and Castel steps out.
"Come in," he says. I gesture to Junior for him to follow me. The room is dark with the exception of a dim light. I stop in my tacks, my eyes widening as I look over at the bed. Tears spring into my eyes again.
"You've got to be fucking kidding me."
