~Ida's POV~

Santi flops down onto the bed on his back, immediately rolling into his side and closing his eyes. The dinner with his family was nice, but I could tell he wasn't feeling it and neither was his dad. His appearance has changed so much since Zane passed. I can't even begin to imagine what it must be like for him to loose your significant other to death.
"I'm tired," he mumbles, reaching up to grab a pillow and cover his face with it. I sit down on the bed next to him, playing with his outgrown hair. He wraps his arms around one of my legs, sighing. "If you keep doing that, I'll fall asleep."
"Go ahead. I'm not tired," I tell him. His phone starts ringing loudly in his pocket, making him groan. He forces himself up, letting up of my leg as he gets his phone out.
"Hello?" He asks tiredly. His eyes widen at something on the other line. "Did it trace back to a certain name too?" My brows pull together in question. It must be about the phone call he got this morning. "Yeah, thank you." He hangs up and takes a deep breath.
"What was that about?" I ask.
"That was your dad," he says. Even more confusion. "I went to the station today and asked him to track down the number that called me this morning. Usually I wouldn't do something that stupid, but if there's a chance of you being in danger, I'm going with reckless choices."
"What did the person say?" Why would I be in danger?
"Just that I knew who it was and that I have something they want and he has something I want," he tells me. At lest he's being honest with me. "I don't know what that could be on both ends."
"Have tried calling the number back?" He shakes his head. "Maybe you should." I get up and make my way to the bathroom.

~Santi's POV~

"Hey," I say quietly, closing the door behind Castel. I didn't get to tell him much on the phone about the situation, so him coming was one in million. "Sorry, I couldn't talk on the phone."
"It's fine. What do you need?" He asks. I didn't actually think about how I would bring this up to him. Knowing him, he'll get pissed I didn't tell him before consulting with a police officer.
I go on explaining the situation to him, waiting for him to start yelling at me. "And you didn't try calling it back?" He asks, leaning against the door. I shake my hand. He takes my phone from me and goes through my recent calls before finding the number.
"Oh great," I say to mauled, knowing him calling the number.
"Whoever they are is messy," he says. He's not wrong. If someone's usually doing this sort of thing they use a burner phone so it can't be tracked. His eyes widen, looking genuinely shocked as he puts it in speaker.
"Finally calling back," whoever they are says.
"Yeah," I say, figuring it's best if I do the talking. "Is whatever this is is serious, I'm gonna need you to answer some questions." They laugh, blocking out of the noice in the back.
"That's not how this works. What happens f you give me what I want in return for your...possession," he says, not exactly finding the right word. I have no possessions I can think of that could be taken or I don't have in the house with me.
"I don't know what you want," I tell him. Castel's hand shakes violently from his tight grip on the phone.
"Castel knows," he says. My eyes meet his. "It's surprising that you haven't brought him into this. You're just the easiest to get in contact of, and it's easier to get you to do this." My heart beats fast in my chest.
"Why would I be easy? You could have just came for him first." The line goes silent with the exception if the background noice. There's an echo type sound with some bangs that makes me think whoever it could be in a storage room.
Castel presses the speaker to his ear. He straightens up, eyes widening. "What?" I whisper. He presses it to my ear. I'm sure my expression is the same as his. The sound of crying is loud through the speaker as long with yells, not from the same person. I can tell that whoever is crying is in pain, breathing hard and gasping for air.
"STOP!" The person yells. My eyes fill with tears. The line goes dead. Castel looks down at me with wide eyes.
"I can find out where the lo-"
    "That was my mom's voice."
