"Harris?" Mr. Dright shouted my name, to which I turned around. "I want you to meet me at the headteachers office in five minutes. I'll tell you what's going on when we're there alright?" He finished and my heart quickened slightly.
I nodded but didn't speak before grabbing my backpack off the floor and walking away at a slightly faster pace than normal. I heard, Mr. Dright sigh and walk in the opposite direction, to his office. I arrived at the headteachers office a second later and took a seat on one of the padded chairs outside. My heart still thumping.
What had I done?
I questioned myself to receive no immediate answer. Had, Brandon framed me again for something I didn't do? It was unlikely, the last time he did that he was found out immediately and suspended for three days. One more suspension and he would be permanently excluded from the school and lose all or most of his current grade. Then what was it then? I continued to question myself until I heard foot steps tapping around the corner and looked up to see, Miss. Briston, the headteacher coming towards me with a curious expression. Mr. Dright stepped around the corner a second later and spoke a quick word with her that I didn't bother listening for.
Mr. Briston nodded at something he said and looked at me with a sympathetic and slightly angry expression. But from her face, I could tell that her anger wasn't directed at me, but someone else.
Both of them walked side by side and opened the door to the headteacher a office. Mr. Dright stepped inside whilst, miss. Briston held the door open and looked at me.
"Could you join us, Harris? I hope you understand, there's a few things we must discuss about recent events." She said and I nodded and gulped.
I knew what this was about now, this wasn't about me or my friends, this was about, Brandom. And my thoughts were confirmed when I entered the room and saw that the computer had been turned around and displayed a paused video of me on the bus. The bus that picked me, Brandon, and Jacob up this morning. And by the angle of the recording, all this was filmed by Jacob, I smiled faintly at how far, Jacob had gone to watch my back. I sat down in a chair at the desk as both of them were already seated and the video began to play.
I sighed. I was probably going to get my ear chewed off after this.
* * *
And sure enough, it happened.
I was in there for at least an hour before they let me go. They only talked about the most recent bullying and had given, Brandon a two week suspension for when half term holiday ended. I had attempted to explain my reason for not coming out with the bullying sooner, and she began to understand a bit, but was still quite disappointed in me. I didn't blame her.
I walked out of school to see all my friends standing there with concerned expressions, all talking together quietly. But as I stepped out of the building and they caught sight of me, they all came running over with smiles plastered on their faces.
"S'bout time you show up! We've been standing out here for an hour. Not to mention that your parents are probably wondering where you are." Exclaimed, Drake as we walked out the school gates and in the direction of the bus stop.
They all clearly knew of why I was so late, but seemed to be avoiding questioning me further. For that I was grateful, I was not happy with how today played out and didn't want to talk about it. So for the few minutes it took for us to travel to the bus stop, we continued our conversation from this morning that thankfully ended on a cheery note. But as we all came upon the bus stop, both Anni and Jacob continued past the stop towards their houses that were conveniently only a few blocks away and right next to each other.
