Doctor Pocker sat, there, staring silently at the endless notes in his hands and through the one-way window in front of him. He could feel a headache slowly being brought on.

It had been four days now, and other than instinctual habits the spirit had, nothing he had gained was set in stone. His actions were just too unpredictable; one day he would eat meat, the other fruit, and another day he would eat both. But what confused him the most in this aspect was the exact amount it ate each day.

But most would expect such unpredictability in an unknown creature, and so he moved onto other tests in hopes of improvement. But research had barely advanced any in those areas too. Everything from its sleeping habits, to the places he sleeps, physical exercise and daily attitude, to its liveliness changed each day.

And apart from a few behavioural patterns, Doctor Pocker hadn't managed to draw any lines to link its behaviour with another species of magical creature. But of course, unpredictably was in fact an attribute given to some magic creatures, but even those had their habits and tendencies. The unpredictable part was usually only attributed to its fighting habits.

The little creature seemed to have it out for him, and he almost believed it too, after catching him staring at the the one-way mirror. In any other case, he would've written it off as curiosity, but the spirits eyes were clearly focused, and staring directly at him. But as the he began to notice, the spirit looked away, continuing to eat an array of different foods, almost as if mocking him.

But all doctor Pocker could do was sigh. There wasn't much testing left to do, and even if he went through with it, he wouldn't imagine a better result than previous experiments. However, there was one more experiment he knew would at least contain some results, which was also the final test they could do before they would have to let the creature go.

Dissection.

Although it was by far, the worst and messiest part of his job, it was still required, especially for a newly discovered magic creature. But first, he would have to send a letter asking for permission from the higher ups before he could even touch a scalpel. It was going to take at least a few days before he received permission, and there was also a a chance that he wouldn't receive permission at all. But there was nothing else he could do.

With a sigh, he got up and walked over to a filing cabinet to his left, retrieving a pen and letter from within. He began writing the letter, making sure to jam pack it with formal language and a pleading undertone so as to hopefully get recognised. But even after signing it, he stilled didn't have confidence.

The Black thaine higher ups saw great value in having the creature around, but for what purposes, he could only guess. But even his wildest guesses probably wouldn't be far.

Black thaine .

Being a relatively inexperienced doctor, especially with the darker side of business, he didn't know what to expect when he was hired. Of course, he had heard rumours, but 'Black thaine' was a name rarely mentioned, as it was often thought of as a bad omen.

He was a privately contracted pharmacist, surgeon, and all around doctor, making him perfect for this job. But after crossing the realms into the forest of Nibel, oh how he wished he had listened to his colleagues.

But for all the bickering and arguing between them, over results, bets, and the sorts; he still hadn't realised that all his colleagues wanted was for him to make the correct decision in all this. But for all these warnings, he had still taken the job.

But he was stuck here now, probably for at least another two months before his contract expired and he was allowed to return home. And home was all that he could think about at the minute.
