Pain is temporary, quitting lasts forever.
-----------------------

Luke and I walked into the cafeteria and spot the rest of the boys with Sara and Avery, sitting at our usual table.

We walked over to the table and sat next to them, while they were invested in each other until Sara spoke up.

"Is Luke your boyfriend?" Sara asked aloud making the group stop talking and look at the three of us.

I just blinked a few times and I glanced over at Luke then stared back at Sara, ignoring everyone's eyes on me.

"He's my bestfriend." I answer truthfully and realize lunch is going to end soon.

Sara just nodded and I could see Michael looking at me and I just shot a smile in his direction.

"Oh, you both would look cute as a couple." Avery spoke up shrugging as she chewed on her straw.

"Yea." Luke spoke up and before anyone could say anything else, the bell rung and dismissed us for next period. Everyone got up quietly and we said our see ya laters before making our way to our next classes.

Did I hear him correctly?

-end of day-

I let out a sigh in relief as I put my stuff away inside my locker, today kinda went by in a breeze.

I closed my locker and as I turned around I bumped into a body and stumbled again, almost falling this time, but they grabbed my arms helping me steady.

I hate bumping into people, I swear it could give me anxiety from so much contact. I looked up and it was a dirty blonde guy who was way taller than I was, looking at me.

"Jordan?" He breathed out my name as a question, making sure if it were actually me or not.

I stared at him with my mouth barely a gap as I immediately recognized him as my old crush in fifth grade. Nathan Burrows.

"Nathan." I breathed out but in conformation, staring into his big brown eyes. He moved away and I was devastated cause we were really close back then. Luke has never met him before.

We just stared at each other some taking in each other appearances, he has grown more attractive over the years and puberty did him well, voice and all. I've never seen him around school until now. He finally smiled at me and I returned it to him.

"Hey, would you like to catch up one day?" He offered letting me go, and crossed his arms. I noticed he gained muscles as well which surprised me 'cause he was very scrawny back then.

"Yea, yea. Of course." I accept while nodding at him, crossing my arms as well, but me, I was still small as ever.

We ended up exchanging numbers and handing each other our phones back before he let out a simply, 'cool.'

"It was really nice seeing you again Jordan, I'll text you, okay?" Nathan says and I nod as he walked away giving a small wave, then he turned and jogged out the school doors.

I went to walk again only to get stopped right where I was, I got a little annoyed but go over it as I seen a girl fall to the ground with her glasses next to my feet.

"I'm so sorry." she apologized to me while looking for her glasses.

I bent down and gently picked up her glasses and extended out my arm for her to grab them. She quietly thanked me and set them on her face, looking up at me as I stood up.

"You are the girl who's dieing, Jordan correct? I'm sorry for being so blunt." The girl says and I offer my hand out to her to help her up. She accepts my hand and she stands up, dusting herself off.

"You're fine, yes I would her." I say politely with a fake smile on my face as she watched me carefully.

"What happened to your hand?" She asked taking my hand in hers, I took away my hand gently and tucked it under my arm.

"Just an accident while cooking." I lie and she just nods, seeming to believe me.

"Well, my name is Katelyn but I go by Kate. You've probably never seen me around because I'm two years younger than you, and I just wanted to apologize and know that I'm praying for you." Kate says smiling and gives me a quick hug, I thank her and pat her back. She releases me and then waves goodbye before walking away from me.

I crossed my arms together and hurried outside of the school before anyone else could bump into me. I found Luke walking up to me and I gave a smile his way.

"Someone's popular today." Luke jokes while walking beside me, we waited by Ashton's car since he was the one who brought me here today.

I shook my head and leaned against the car, him following my actions. He clicked his tongue at me and seemed he wanted to say something so I gave him a look.

"Who was that tall guy you were talking too?" Luke asked me, stuffing his hands in his pockets. I bit the inside of my cheek and decide not to tell him.

"He was no one." I say and watch the school doors, waiting for Ashton to come out so he can take me home.

"Then why'd you exchange phones? He looked like someone to me." Luke says in a tone I couldn't figure out and I just squint my eyes at him.

I just rolled my eyes and looked back at the school doors to see Ashton walk out with Calum and Michael by his side with Avery and Sara close behind, them all smiling and laughing.

I noticed Niall wasn't with them but decided not to bring him up and walk my new group of friends have a good time together. I'm sure it'll be the same without me when I'm gone, them smiling and all.
