Chapter 5

When I got into my mom's room there was an annoying beeping noise. It wasn't just an annoying beeping noise. In my moms room, there were nurses and doctors standing beside her bed, looking sympathetic. My brother was sitting in the chair beside her with his head in his hands.

It quickly noticed that she no longer had tubes in her mouth or arms. it quickly dawned to me that my brother made the choice with out me.b He chose to let her die, the beeping noise was her heart stopping.

I quickly ran to the foot of her bed, my eyes widened. "You bastard!" I yelled at David.

He slowly lifted his head up, his eyes slightly red, like he's been crying. "This was the right choice Abs." he whispered.

I shook my head quickly, tears in my eyes. "No, this was not the right choice!" "Do something!" I yelled at the doctor.

He shook his head sadly. "He made the choice; he's the oldest so it was his decision." He slowly walked over and turned off the heart monitor, making the room deadly silent.

Tears started to fall freely. "I can't believe you David."

He scoffed. "Don't even give me that Abby, if you would've just told me what was going on, we wouldn't even be in this situation."

I curled my hands into fist, getting pissed off. "Don't you dare try to make this my fault; you have no idea what I went through just to keep her alive."

He laughed once humorlessly. "You obviously didn't do enough." He walked out of the room, leaving me alone with the nurses, doctors and the dead body of my mother.

"Can I have a few minutes with her please?" I asked quietly.

They all nodded and left, giving my sympathetic looks.

When they were all gone, I went and sat in the chair beside her. I slowly took her hand in mine, it was still warm. "I Cant believe you fucking did this to me." I whispered. I brought my head down to her hand, and started to sob uncontrollably.

It was all starting to come out now. My dad leaving us, my mom becoming an alcoholic and now her dying. It was all becoming to much. I've kept my emotions in check for so long, that I could no longer keep them in.

I was sitting there like that, until I felt a hand on my shoulder. I looked up and saw Jake, standing there with a sad smile. He slowly turned me and pulled me to his chest, wrapping his arms around me and just holding me, letting me cry into his chest. "Shh, let it out, I'm here." he cooed. he rubbed my back in small little circles, in an effort to comfort me.

We were like that for awhile, until I finally pulled back.

"You ok now?" he asked softly.

I shrugged. "I'll be fine in a few weeks or something, I'll live."

He stood up and pulled me up with him. "Come on, let's get out of here."

"I really shouldn't, there's probably so much stuff I have to take care of." I said hesitantly.
