Patrick woke up feeling safe and calm in his alphas arms. Pete was raking his fingers through the omegas hair in a soothing way that relaxed patrick even more. He most forgot the events of the previous day.

That was until it hit him.

He felt tears sting his eyes and they both experienced a new emotion that the omega has never felt. Heartbreak.

Pete looked at the omega as he started whimpering, he knew this must've been hard for the omega to process. It was the only thing an omega wasn't prepared to face,

"Patrick baby. It's ok, your alright" he cooed as he pulled him closer into his hard chest and rubbed his hand down the omegas back covered in the horrible blue of the hospital gown.

The omegas gripped onto the alphas shirt and cried, he didn't know what to do. He felt like he failed as an omega and that he hasn't made his alpha proud. He feared loosing pete and even though he knew that the alpha would never leave him he couldn't help his inner omega fearing the worst.

Patrick ended up falling asleep on the alpha and pete carefully lifted him up and place him back on the bed and draped the blankets over the omegas small frame.

He walked out of the room to see Ashlee walking his way,

"How is he?" She asked,

"Upset. I mean fuck, Ashlee he's heartbroken and it's a feeling I would never want him to have"

"It will get harder before it gets better" she said, sympathy lacing her voice as she placed a hand on his shoulder then let it run down his arm.

"Come on let's get coffee" she said,

Pete nodded slightly and looked back at Patricks room before whipping out his phone and texting Patricks parents to tell them what's going on. They do have a right to know what's happening with their youngest son. Pete may not have had parents when he was younger but he most certainly will not stop patrick from seeing his parents.

He hesitantly followed Ashlee and then went to the small cafeteria down the corridor on the same floor that they were on.

The coffee was tasteless and bitter, it was horrible and pete never drank it. He only stared at the table and holding on to every little fragment of patrick in their bond. It was the only thing soothing the alpha with being away from the omega for so long.

But that didn't last long,

Because as soon as ashlee's phone pinged, pete felt patrick disappear from the bond and it fucking gave him a heart attack.

Faster than he ever ran, pete went down that corridor towards Patricks room with Ashlee following. He felt the heartbreak when he saw doctors rushing in and out of the room and Ashlee held pete back from causing trouble.

He nearly lost it when they wheeled patrick out, looking pale and lifeless.

He fell to the ground and tears sprung freely as Ashlee attempted to comfort the alpha, but all pete could think about is of patrick is going to be ok or is he going to loose his omega before he even gets a chance to live his life.
