(This is platonic so no one can try to throw the "that's incest!!!!" label at me)
"Daphne," Devin swiftly walked towards his sister, pausing in front of her, "have you seen Dawson at all?"
"You going to go pick on him?" Daphne joked.
"If I feel like it." Devin shrugged, grinning.
"I haven't seen him since dinner. After that he slipped off without a word." His sister replied, tilting her head.
"Dinner was three hours ago." Devin muttered to himself, beginning to walk off.
"You're welcome!" Daphne called after him.
"Thanks." Devin spat out.
The eldest son began to walk down the hallway, occasionally asking the busy servants, to which most replied with a simple shake of their head.
Devin sighed in frustration. He was just about ready to give up. Dawson was responsible, he was fine.
But then, an idea came.
I'm getting nervous for no reason.
He turned around sharply, making his way back down the halls of the third floor, until he hesitated in front of Dawson's bedroom door. It was closed. Normally, Dawson kept it open just a crack, but now it was completely shut.
Devin turned the knob, peeking his head in. No sign of Dawson.
He looked around for a minute.
Actually. One sign of Dawson. The window that led to the roof was open and a light breeze drifted into the room. Devin stepped forward, closing the door quietly behind him. He walked over to the window and climbed out, looking over at Dawson, who laid silently against the tilted rooftop.
"Something tells me that I do not want to compete with you at hide and seek." Devin smiled.
Dawson glanced over at him. "Yeah, you don't. I'd destroy you."
Devin settled down next to his younger brother. "What are you doing out here this late?"
Dawson pointed at the sky. "Stars." He said simply.
"What about them?" Devin asked, raising a brow.
"They're pretty tonight." Dawson commented.
To Devin, they just looked like old, ordinary stars, but Dawson paid more attention to things than he did, he had to admit that.
"Why are you here?" Dawson questioned quietly.
"No one had seen you for three hours, Dawsy," Devin gently took Dawson's wrist in his hand, bringing his hand towards him, "I guess I got worried."
The younger boy looked at him patiently as Devin absentmindedly played with his fingers.
"Something's bothering you." Dawson said suddenly.
Devin snapped back to the present. "Something's bothering you," He fired back, "you excused yourself from dinner ten minutes early and ran off to your room like a scared stray cat to it's box."
Dawson was silent. He felt Devin hug his hand to his chest.
"Dawson?"
Dawson sighed softly. "I don't know." He expected his older brother to start pestering him some more, but Devin stayed quiet, rubbing his sibling's knuckles.
Dawson glanced over at him with an awkward smile. "You're acting kinda weird." He giggled.
"Your hand is soft, shut up." Devin grumbled.
And Dawson really did shut up, and instead, huddled up close against Devin in the cold night air. Devin seemed to relax. Perhaps they were both cold.
"About the stars," Devin brought up all of a sudden, "what's different about them tonight?" He felt a little embarrassed saying that, but he really couldn't tell.
"You can't tell?" Dawson rolled his eyes.
"Sorry that I'm no expert." Devin snorted.
Dawson grinned ear to ear. "Canis Major."
When Devin stared, he really could make out the constellation. He knew it was Dawson's favourite one. He didn't have a personal favourite.
"Bet that's Briggan's favourite too." Devin snickered.
Dawson laughed along.
"Dawson," Devin said.
"Hm?"
"I joined the Conquerors."
He hated throwing it directly at him, but he had to get it out.
Dawson sat up quickly, staring down at Devin's face as if for any sign of it just being a joke.
But Devin looked serious, which was hard for him to pull off.
"You what?" He squeaked.[This one,,, is all over the place, buT!! I felt like doing some sweet Devin and Dawson moments so whatever!! Promise I'll get some good ones out soon lol]
