The noise of rain pounding on the hard surfaces has always been a rather calming one. A day for me to sit back and read a book as I would usually do, but here I am. At school. For practice. My head hurts and I can't get over the dream I had last night. My mind was foggy and I was not in the mood for a game in the least but I might as well try my best.
I stood listening to the rain as the others talked among themselves.
"A mini-game?"
"I can't believe we're already playing the upperclassmen like this..."
"Do you remember the record from last year, they told us about during our first meeting? They went on to the finals in their first year."
"Are you serious?"
"That's not normal."
"There's nothing to be afraid of, it's always better to have stronger opponents than weak ones. Let's go."
I nodded and we all took our places on the court when Riko blew her whistle. Kagami stood in the center and we stood at the ready to defend him, or go straight into the play. With a quick blow of her whistle she tossed the ball into the air and the game started Izuki and Kagami jumped up, each edging to get to the ball. Kagami reaching higher than Izuki and launching the ball to our side of the court. Kawahara grabbed the ball and soon both teams flooded the court in attempt to both protect and steal the ball. Kawahara passed it to Kagami who in turn easily dunked the ball.
"That dunk was unbelievable." Kawahara gasped.
I smirked and crossed my arms, the door to the gym opening and catching my attention.
"Amazing..." Furihata breathed.
I looked around and saw a few people in the gym this time. I shrugged it off and turned my attention back to the game.
Hyuga wiped his brow, "This is unbelievable."
Basket after basket Kagami scored for us and no one dared get in his way. Our score climbed up for our end, soon we were up by three points.
"I can't believe the first years are this strong... " Hyuga panted.
"Kagami is doing it all by himself! Shit..." Kogane breathed.
I suddenly had the ball in my hands, I looked around. I didn't know my team well enough to do anything. I glanced at my yellow Jersey and looked up for another. Before I knew it someone stole the ball.
"It's him again..." Furihata hissed and straightened out, "Keep it together!"
I panted as I ran the length of the court, he was right. If we were going to keep up with Kagami, I had to play like I normally would.
Kagami easily blocked the second year basket, giving us the ball. His eye twitched as he looked up at me.
I sighed and stretched, well that's the last of my team members. Better get started on what I do best. Bending slightly everything went slightly slower, my eyes trailing on the ball. Watching as it switched from member to member. Taking a deep breath, I ran onto the court. No one paying me any attention any longer.
Three of the second years surrounded Kagami, trapping him. You could see the despair in his eyes. They were blocking him even though he didn't have the ball in his possession.
Hyuga had the ball and shot the ball straight through the defense.
Fighting to get the ball the others struggled to get the ball to Kagami. I smirked. If they can't, I will.
