~ LEO'S POV ~

I felt my heart clatter like a fallen katana as I entered Father's study. I could tell he was annoyed...

He kneeled down in front of the great tree. It was always something I had wondered about when I was younger, how something as grand as this tree could have grown in the sewers. Of course, Donnie would have some kind of scientific answer, but still, I liked to imagine all kinds of scenarios about its birth. Kinda like my brothers and I.

"Leonardo," Father said.

I got on my knees in front of him, my hands in my lap, looking down. "Yes, Father?"

"You have been acting distracted lately. You snuck out during training this morning. You attempted to lie to me. Tell me why this is so, my son."

A battle started inside me. I wanted to tell him about Y/N. He was my father... he deserved to know.

"Well Father, I've kinda been visiting this girl... Y/N."

My father stroked his braided goatee, and he sighed. "How did you two meet?"

"I saved her from a bully, father. I had to. She had told him to stop, but he was going to do something bad to her."

Father stood, walking to the great tree.

"My son, can you tell me why this tree exists?" He asked, emphasising "why".

"Um... because... even though it wasn't supposed to grow in the sewers, some chemical reaction took place in the water? I think that's what Donnie said."

"Do not speak with Donatello's answer. I asked for your opinion, Leonardo."

I shifted uncomfortably, walking to the tree. I inspected it carefully.

"Um... I'm really not sure, sensei. Maybe the tree got mutated like us?"

Sensei smiled, and he walked back to the centre of the dojo.

"Good work, my son. I would like to meet Miss Y/N. She can meet April and Casey too."

I smiled, nodding my head.

"Thank you, father."

"Leonardo," sensei asked just as I was about to leave.

"How old is she?"

I froze.

"She... may or may not be 15 BYE!" I yelped as I bolted out of the dojo.
