Imagine: You and Greta watch the pharmacy while Mr. Keene is gone. And who comes waltzing in and steals your heart?
My friend Greta is always telling me to go after talker boys just because I blushed as Eddie Kaspbrak looked at me in music class.
Yup, Eddie Kaspbrak all right. Everyone says he's gay or some shit, but I don't care. I have a major crush on him, and I've never told anyone.
I'm not embarrassed or anything, it's just that, I don't want people to know I like some "loser" like him. It's rude, I know, but what am I supposed to say? I'm a teenager, and everyone is self conscious about their decisions.
Anyway, I was on my way to Spanish class. I had my books in my hand as I walked down the stairs. Eddie was always on my mind for no reason at all. I'm surprised I haven't said anything to my friends yet.
As I waited outside the class, I saw Eddie walk by and stand right behind me while talking to his friend.
"Come on Eds, when are you going to talk to her?" I hear his friend say.
"I don't know I-" Eddie immediately stopped.
"Oop, gotta blast, bye Eddie Spaghetti!" His friend said walking away.
"Don't call me that Richie! I hate it when you do that!" Eddie called with a huff. Eddie Spaghetti, I thought, cute...
(Time skip)
I opened my locker and put away my books and grabbed my lunch. Before I could put my pencils away, Great closed my locker with a slam. "Y/n! Come with me! It's urgent!" She exclaimed before dragging me down to the cafeteria. When we got there, she pointed at our usual table. I looked over to see the losers club sitting there. "See Y/n? Those losers are sitting in our seats. Go tell them to move," Greta ordered.
"I don't-"
"Just do it y/n! It's not that big of a deal! Just throw out a few insults and say 'move'," she explained, pushing me towards them. I walked over slowly, not wanting to make eye contact with Eddie. I'd rather just watch him from afar.
"H-Hey guys?" I spoke up, causing all seven of them to look at me. "Y-You guys are sitting at my friends table and we wanted to know if you would m-move," I said nervously. "Uhh...well, there isn't anywhere else to sit," one of them said.
"That's ok, I'll-"
"No, y/n, I'll handle this," Greta said cutting me off out of no where, "Listen here losers, you move or else."
"Or else what?" Eddie's friend from earlier said.
"Or else I'll tell my dad to remove your little friend's prescription from the pharmacy," Greta threatened.
I knew she meant Eddie. Her dad, Mr. Keene, worked at the pharmacy down the street from the arcade. On day I went with Greta to the pharmacy during the summer when her dad had to watch her. We were pretty much there all day.
Around three, Eddie came in asking her dad for his prescription bottle. Greta gave him a death glare from behind the counter the whole time he was there, while I just looked anywhere but him. But I had a feeling he was staring at me...
"Come on guys! Let's just go. You know I need my medication!" Eddie pleaded to his friends. They gave up and left the cafeteria, giving us our table back. I felt bad about being so mean the rest of the afternoon.
I followed Greta into the pharmacy and down the candy isle. We were picking out some snacks to take with us to the movies after we did some homework. Because it was really hot outside, Greta suggested we should do the homework in the back of the store where the AC was.
We sat down at a small table in the back corner while taking our books out. "Greta, sweetie," Mr. Keene said coming into the room, "I need to step out and go down the street to pick up new shipments. If anyone's comes to the desk, can one of you girls help them? You know how to use the cashier, right?"
We both nodded, going back to our work. Occasionally, someone would come in and Greta would help because she knows the store better than I do. I told her I felt bad for making her get up and she said she didn't care because it gave her an excuse to not do her homework.
After 20 minutes, we were pretty much done with our work, well I was. We were about to leave from the back when someone called from the counter.
"Ugh," Greta sighed.
"It's ok, I'll get it. I'll meet you outside," I assured, dropping my stuff and walking over. As I was approaching, I saw the one person I most definitely did not want to talk to.
"H-Hey, what can I get you?" I asked nervously, not making eye contact.
"Um, where's Mr. Keene?" Eddie asked.
"He'll be back soon. He told Greta and I to take over while he's gone." I explained.
"Oh gosh, Gretas' here? I better hurry up then-"
"Oh, don't worry, she's outside," I told him, knowing she was going to pick on him is she was here. "Anyway, what is it you need?" I asked again.
"Oh, yes, um, I need my usual prescription and a refill for my aspirator," Eddie mumbled without looking at me. I nodded and started looking around the shelves and aisles, getting lost it the hundreds of bottles.
"D-Do you need help?" Eddie asked me.
"I think I'm fine," I called back rummaging around. I still couldn't find what he needed. I saw Eddie hop over the counter and walk over to me.
"Here, I'll show you where they are," Eddie said while grabbing my hand hesitantly. He lead me over to the next aisle and looked through the 'K' section. Of course, I'm so stupid.
"Here," he said handing me the bright orange bottle. I looked down to see him still holding my hand. I guess he saw too because he immediately let go.
I went over to the cashier and plugged in the prices, but then stopped when I remembered something. "Doesn't your mom have an account?" I asked.
"Y-Yeah, how'd you know?" He asked. My eyes widened, how did I know that? I just shrugged, not knowing how to respond. "I'm just going to pay with cash, to save you the trouble," Eddie told me. I nodded and took the cash from his hand.
I rang his purchase up and handed him his prescription. Our hands touched briefly, which made not just me, but both of us blush.
"Have a nice day, Eddie Spaghetti," I said without thinking. I my eyes widened and face reddened right as that came out of my mouth. Eddie looked just as surprised as I did, but he didn't tell me to not call him that like he did to his friend. What he said was,
"You too, y/n/n. I'll see you tomorrow," he smiled as he left the store. I stood there with the biggest smile on my face."Y/n! Let's go!" Great yelled at me from the back.
"Coming!" I yelled, collecting my bag and running out of the store.
A/n: part two? maybeee???
