Chapter 16
~~~~~~~
"Man I hated that cell." The Avery from my squad jokes while taking a drink.
The resistance group has been celebrating for the past week over the changes with the atmosphere and the beliefs. They've opened a large gathering at their now public meeting place.
Hern and I discussed things over with the council about changing the true motto of the black wings.
It's been a long month but we finally got them to at least release all prisoners who violated code. This lead to both Avery's I know to be set free.
The Avery from the resistance group was given a new name for her actions with rebelling laws even if it meant imprisonment. Her new name is Caci, it roughly means brave.
"They made the mistake of putting us in the same cell. We gave those camera's a show." Caci laughs and nudges Avery, causing her face to redden.
"We only went to second bas-"
"Can we not discuss your the intimacy of your relationship right now?" I cut into Avery while covering my burning ears.
Caci laughs harder, her wavy hair swaying. "You're so innocent! I mean come on, I bet you and your little girlfriend have stolen a few bases."
My own face heats up at her comment but I manage to shake my head. "Lana's not comfortable with a lot of things actually. Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't mind going a tad farther but I don't intend on pressuring her."
Avery wipes a fake year from her eye tattoo. "Wow, there's another caring side from you aside from a killing machine."
"I'm not a killing machine!" I raise my voice, turning suddenly defensive.
"Okay a killing protector machine." She corrects her self, adding in an annoying voice.
"Damn right he is." An arm snakes around my shoulders as Lana joins in.
I smile at her embrace and plant a kiss on her cheek. "There you are, I was just coming to find you."
"Hmm. Call it fate then."
We both smirk at the comment. Fate has been such a cruel word lately.
"We'll leave you two to catch up, if you catch my drift." Caci mocks while taking Avery's hand and walking further into the crowd.
"Are they dating?" Lana inquires once they're out of ear-shot.
I shrug my shoulders. "Guess so."
"Yes! I was been shipping them since the day we all sewed together."
I raise an eyebrow. "What's shipping?"
"Oh, it's a term from the 2010's. Basically it's when you want two people to date when they're not. You ship them." She adds with confidence.
"Well, I've been shipping us since the day of the lake incident then." I tell her as I nuzzle my head on top of hers.
"Come on, let's go watch the plays." Lana reminds me of the festivities while dragging me to the amphitheater.
The resistance group decided to put on a little play at the black wing's amphitheater.
It an old play about some star-crossed lovers that puts me I sleep about half-way through.
"I think I'm about to puke." I warn Lana as the plot line thins like my patience.
"Shhhh." She silences me by hitting my arm.
