Chapter 11

~~~~~~~
13 bars down, 4 across. That's what holds me from the rest of the world. The metal bench I sit on is too short to lay down due to my height, so I sit with my head in my hands, trying to figure out what to do.
My wounds have been untreated, the blood is dry around my face and I'm positive my left eye is swollen.
I want to desert these people so badly but I have to remind they're not all like this. They still needed to be saved and with their "army", it looks like it won't happen unless the resistance and I step in.
My sword, the one given to me by their fucking sage is in Hern's dirty hands.
My throwing knife was also taken. Hern insisted I was given a pat-down because I might be hiding something to cause harm to another person.
Ass.
I get up from the cool bench and walk to the bars. If I squeeze my face enough, I can just barely see out of my cell. Nothing and nobody is done here, just the eerie silence of anticipation.
The prison cells down here are like the rest of the buildings. Ultra modern with technology that I can't understand.
I'm the only person down here. I'm being watched though. There's a camera inside and outside my cell.
I've flicked them off multiple times.
But the sounds of the doors opening at the edge of the hall make me quickly retreat to the bench.
I need them to trust me. That means I have to comply.
Joy.
Two guards appear at my cell and unlock the door. I stand up and each one grabs an arm and orders me to walk. Their metal shoes click agaisnt the hard tile.
We go to an elevator for transporting inmates and head up to the floor where the council is. Of course they want a statement and the fact I can't fight back against Hern makes my blood boil in rage.
The guards guide me in the room and leave. Nadie's eyes scan my face and she shakes her head.
I didn't fucking start it! I want to scream at the top of my lungs that I'm innocent that I'm not posing a threat to their society. No matter how loud I yell, the more I become voiceless to the crowd.
"Ace we are terribly sorry for the actions displayed by Hern. We saw that he was the aggressor and you only fought in self-defense. You're not in trouble." The woman with the robotic eye apologizes.
This catches me off-guard. "How did you know?" I ask cautiously.
The woman laughs without humor. "Surprised you didn't notice. We have cameras covering every inch of our realm."
Her comment makes me look over my shoulder. I mean I'm happy they have surveillance but are they watching everything I do?
Good, next time Hern throws a punch at me, everyone will witness me kicking the shit out of him on a live feed. He's lucky he surprised me.
"We actually have something else we need to talk to you about." The voice of Nadie pulls me back in conversation.
"Concerning what?" I question with a wanting to leave and return to training.
"The sword and well.....there's something else relating to it." She responds in an urgent voice.
Her demeanor gives me discomfort. What's so wrong with the manner of the sword to put her on edge?
